Speaking Out On Equality

The California Supreme Court took a stance for equality on Thursday.
By overturning the archaic ban on gay marriage, the judges reaffirmed their belief that all residents of this great state should be treated the same under the law.
Now, a few prominent members of the LGBT community are speaking out to The Advocate about this historic day!
Ellen DeGeneres:
"I’m thrilled that the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote.

With the state of the union, the gas prices, food prices and the worst president in American history, this makes me think that come November, when a Democrat is voted in , no matter which one, maybe harmony will come among us.

actually we aren't putting aside differences, we are going one way by legalizing gay marriage. That isn't exactly getting out of our differences, thats completely ignoring how christian, muslim, mormon etc people feel and what they believe. Putting aside differences means theres a compromise. there really isn't any here at all. Saying putting aside our differences basically means we got our way because we whined enough and that all religions are outdated and archaic. Everytime i've met a lesbian or seen a real one on tv or one commenting on something they all have one thing in common. The only reason they "like" women is because they haven't met a man who has treated them ok, or they're all like "men are jerks and pigs and blahblahblah". And it makes no sense that a male that has never dated a woman, or really gotten to know a woman can claim they are gay. If you have never "experienced" a woman in anyway there is no way to positively know you are gay.

When I heard this I was so excited! I can't believe all the negative comments I have seen on here! My mother is a lesbian. She has been for 13 years. I agreed with what she had to say. "I don't give a damn what it's called, marriage, civil union, homos unite, as long as we have the same rights as any other married couple who hates each other's guts." Haha! Which is very true!
