A Malawi judge was expected to finalize Madonna's adoption of little David on Thursday, but….
That didn't happen!
Madge will have to wait a bit longer to find out the fate of her son, whose been a part of her family since late 2006.
The official ruling has been postponed until next week.
Why the holdup?
The hearing was delayed after a Malawian human rights group presented arguments on "shortcomings" in the southern African nation's adoption laws.

I don't think it's that awesome for you to be "ugghhh!"-ing human rights groups who are trying to find a practical, safe, healthy alternative to the laws regarding adoption in Malawi. If everyone "ugghhh!"-ed the human rights groups who tried (but failed) to make the (temporary) Massachusetts law of gay marriage functional by dissecting it, I bet you'd think differently. MORON.

madonna broke the law when she adopted that boy. NO ONE else could have taken a child out of that country the way she did…look it up!! you cannot adopt in Malawi unless you have lived in the country for two years!!

My cousin is trying to adopt a child, because she can't have children herself. The procedure is already taking years, all the forms have been filled in and approved by the officials. But they still don't know when they may expect their child. Heart-breaking!!
I do feel bad for everyone who deals with these issues, but something tells me it will work out for little David and Madonna … And in the meantime, he's with his new family already …
Her lawyers are trying to arrange the adoption without her present in the court room - because she's too BUSY with new album.
Pity the child got in her way, isn't it? If she had any decency at all, she would make SURE she was in that Court Room.

That's really shitty for her but at the same time atleast flaws in their adoption system have been noticed with all the extra attention this adoption has brought. I hope everything works out for her and I feel her worry but this could become a good thing for the children waiting to be adopted. I'd hate to see any child end up in bad hands. ( not saying theres anything wrong with madonna but some might not have the best intentions in mind)

Please understand, no one is trying to make it hard for good people to adopt. Groups are potesting because many countries do not have the checks and balances(and to enforce them) to ensure that inter-country adoption is safe, legal and in the best interest of the child. Paedofile rings, and child traffickers take advantage of weak laws and extreme poverty to prey on children. This happens everyday, all over the world. There is anecdotal evidence of this spcifically in Malawi, so while they are probably not concerned about Madonna, they have to make sure the law process is safe for ALL children. About 30,000 kids from other countries are adopted by US citizens each year. Adoption is a wonderful loving option for a few children, but we need to also remember the millions of children who have been orphaned by AIDS, war or natural disasters and the exteneded families and communites that need to be supported in order to care for them. (extended families and communities care for 85-90% of orphans)

Love her or hate her- Madge's got everybody talking about her again, which is really her goal. But unfortunately, all the tongue wagging isn't translating into CD sales. Industry insiders are well aware the Madge and her company are buying the CD's themselves- to create the illusion that she is still a top selling pop star.
So why isn't she anymore? Despite her uncanny effectiveness in the past- Madge has very badly guaged the current zeitgeist. Her usual tricks to stay relevant aren't working anymore. (I.e.- duets with the hot boy of the moment, Ricky Martin, Justin Timberlake, et. al) or lezzy lip locking with flavor of the month pop tarts (Britney Spears), ripping of underground gay club trends, etc. Her tactics are well known.
However, Madge has just gotten plain old lazy. Sure, she looks kinda good still, in a hardened, over-exercised kinda way- but in an era of cyclones, tsunamis, wildfires, floods, bees dying, global warming, polar bear extinction- economic woes, etc.- no one really cares that much about a 50 year old from Detroit putting her genitals on the auction block to get attention and sell CD's.
It's just kinda sad and pathetic.

As a mom of two internationally adopted boys I feel for Madonna. However, this is why adopting from countries like Malawi are risky. Every country has it's own adoption rules and everyone must abide by them. Some are ridiculous but that's the way it is. She wouldn't be going thru this if she had followed their rules. Best of luck to u Madonna. I hope she uses her experiences to get things changed in Malawi regarding some of their adoption laws and works with our state department and the Hague Convention so other families can have an easier time adopting from their beautiful country.
In a reply to 'Lisa' #33, I don't know if u have children or if any of them are adopted, but EVERYONE who adopts internationally or domestically undergo the same sort of evaluations and testing. Home studies are done for ALL adoptions no matter what country u adopt from. Back ground studies are done on all prospective parents. Fingerprinting is done by the INS for international adoptions and done by your state for domestic adoptions. U must be a registered foster parent in most states to adopt domestically and private domestic adoptions undergo the same amount of scrutiny. I also think it is unfair to assume that Madonna and Angelina had unplanned pregnancies. If u don't like them then that is your right . I also didn't realize u are a licensed and trained doctor and u feel u can diagnose someone with Borderline Personality Disorder.
