It's been seventeen years since the first one was out.
Are you guys interested in seeing the sequel?!
No word if Reeves or Swayze have been approached about reprising their roles from the original film, but we'd bet money that neither of them will be back.
It would be great if Patrick were healthy enough to at least make a cameo in the sequel!

Great film but there is no reason for a sequel. We all saw what happened to Bodhi at the end, so Swayze could only come back as a spirit being.

I have to say, I was at home sick last week and Point Break was on in the afternoon. I watched it, and I had forgotten how much I loved that crappy movie. And at the end I thought, I wonder why they never made a sequel, you don't know if Swayze's character actually dies. The only way this sequel wouldn't suck would be if they could get Keanu and Patrick to reprise their roles, which likely won't happen. Point Break- a guilty pleasure.

No, dears. The ending of Point Break is ambiguous - if you even know the meaning of that word. Yes, it is assumed that Bodhi dies, but it is not certain. And that's part of the beauty of the ending. Utah was faithful to Bodhi and allowed him to surf in the storm rather than arresting him on the spot. They should leave this movie alone. Part of the appeal of it is all of the loose ends they left in the original. It's up to the viewer to decide what happened. A sequel could only suck for fans of the original. But for those who (and I suspect they are many) have never seen Point Break, if directors did a good job, the sequel could do well.
I think I have watched Point Break more than any other movie, ever. LOL, I don't really know why, it's not a masterpiece, but they seemed to show it on late night television really often several years back, and I would just find myself unable to change the channel and would watch it all over again.
A sequel is totally unnecessary and would probably flop.
They should cast you as the dead humpback that washes up on the beach-FAT BOY!!

Point Break was so cheesy awesome … I would so love a sequel! BUT … probably only if Swayze and Reeves were in it. If they weren't it in, it would ruin the whole thing.
Why ? And Swayze can't return, I believe he's supposed to be dead in Point Break I.

I believe the last they showed of him was him falling off the board because he couldn't handle the huge wave and the next thing you see is the board floating. The ending could be taken in two ways and I think it's how they wanted it to be. 1.) He simply drowned or 2.) He used the wave as a way to escape by making Keanu's character think it killed him…faked his death. It was a classic "two possibilities" ending that leaves a setup for any possible future sequel. It's been too long for any kind of sequel and the movie wasn't very great to begin with. More proof that Hollywood can't come up with original material.
You know that point break is a play running in SF right now. They pick an "actor" from the audience each night to play Keanu's part and read off of cue cards in an attempt to recreate the gritty rawness of Keanu's performance.

How lazy is it that movie writers, whose job it is to think of ideas and be creative, refuse to do their jobs and simply rehash TV shows or make sequels to movies that are 20 years old. It's really pathetic. The studios need to put a stop to this. All this stuff flops anyway so they cant be making any money. I just dont get it.
