I find it offensive that gays call their unions a "marriage". Marriage is a sacred union between a MAN AND A WOMAN- not a man and a man or a woman and a woman. Call it a partnership or whatever you want, but dont call it a marriage. It never was and it never will be. Though I am happy about the added spousal benefits that go along with it. It wasnt the way the ellen said it or the fact that she cried, its seeing Portia crying and she is without make and looks so beautiful and so real. that is what made me cry.

I love Ellen and I think that she and Portia deserve to be happy, and if they want to get married, then let them marry! By your theory, if we're going down the traditional path (and therefore defintion) of marriage that has existed since recorded history-that it is only between a man and a woman- then marriage shouldn't be interracial and people should stick to their own race…WHICH IS RIDICULOUS. You can't tell a white person not to marry a black person, so why is the US allowed to tell women that they can't marry women? If the church doesn't want to marry them, then fine, but the state should not have the right to say the same thing.
