More Bad News!

Like Variety before them, the Hollywood Reporter is giving the new Sex & The City film a mixed to negative review.
The respected industry paper says the film is "flabby," "lacks focus" and "loses its tart edge."
Bummer!

I don't really care. I loved the show so I will definitely see the movie. Critics are mostly bitter losers who did not make it in the entertainment business so I don't take their reviews too seriously. The show is not for everyone so I'm sure the movie is not for everyone either. Can't wait!

I don't understand. The reviews keep saying the four leads are great, but that the movie isn't working. If the actresses are good, than how can the movie be bad? I think these movie reviewers aren't Sex and the City fans, but just grouchy old men who aren't amused by a "chick flick".

Everyone is just jealous that the Sex & The City movie is going to be such a big hit so many years later, old or not these ladies are awesome. I can't wait to see it!
The reason that it may get such mixed reviews is because the film is not as "revolutionary", or as edgy as the show was back in the late 90s and early 2000s. The topic many are dealing with here is marriage, pretty much, with a few other themes sprinkled in.
It's not to say that the film loses so much ground over what people are going to see, rather it's a nostalgic look at friendships and relationships that many of us have experienced -and still do- throughout the HBO series.

I think Kristen is so pretty, Kims not to bad but I agree Sarah Jessica and Cinytha are pretty fugly but I still love the series. I will also say in the series Carrie wore some the most hideous ass clothes I have ever seen! How some can say shes a fashion icon is a fucking joke!!!

And they are wondering why they have bad reviews??? Because the tv show wasn't realistic (except for the first season) and the movie is less so. This one will go to dvd very quickly…

I've only seen the show a few times, but what always bugged me is the characters are living in New York City. Umm, I've been to NYC. I've never seen anyone dressed like these characters dress. They don't even have NY accents! This show should have been based in Los Angeles.

Sex and the City was a very good show but that show is so over. Why couldn't they let it rest? It looks so dull and lifeless. What's up with Kim's dress? Bright red color, massive shoulder pads, large belt with ruffled shirt. It's so 80s!!
One of the catchiest features of the TV series was the way the show was constructed so that Carrie's column led into the story. If this feature is missing from the film, it would certainly take a lot away from its appeal. I loved the TV series of S&TC. However I am in two minds about seeing the film. It may be like when you've read a great book, go and see the film and it's a big let down.

Loved SATC, but won't be paying to see the movie. That is a sleeping dog they should have let lie.
It will probably have a big opening weekend…then fizzle out. There is no appeal beyond the fan base, and it's going to be a hard sell for boyfriends and hubbies.
