There's always musical theater to turn to!

Ex-American Idol champ Taylor Hicks is heading to the Great White Way — just like fellow Idol alums Fantasia Barrino (The Color Purple), Clay Aiken (Spamalot), Diana DeGarmo (Hairspray), Frenchie (Rent) and Constantine Maroulis (The Wedding Singer).

Hicks is set to join the cast of Grease as Teen Angel starting June 6th.

He says he plans to add "soulful flavor" to his performance of "Beauty School Dropout." Gag.

The flashy role, he said, is "a classic fit for a classic performer."

He just called himself a classic performer!!!!!!!!!

By "classic" he means "hasbeen"!

      i saw taylor hicks in the milwaukee airport in january and he was actually really good looking. he looked tall and thin and really handsome…almost like a young george clooney. i can't believe i just said that…

      Heyyyyyy, I love me some Taylor. I think his first album suffered from Bo Bice syndrome - he had very little control over his first album (like Bice) and it showed. Bo Bice's second album is filled with the music that Bice loves - southern rock a la Skynyrd or the Allman Brothers. Taylor is very talented, but shouldn't be trying to make Top 40ish music….he needs to follow his own path and be the next Delbert McClinton.

      Taylor will bring down the house every night! He is a fantastic live performer. He belongs on Broadway or in Vegas!

      The weakness of American Idol is that we vote for the best Live Entertainer, but the goal AFTER the show is to sell CD's. So, the best recording artist is not usually the best live performer. I love Taylor!

      He truly is a southern gentlemen & one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet. He makes big bank every month on merchandise & still sells very well (tickets) at live shows.       I usually just enjoy looking at the pics, but for all of you that might not be musically inclined, Taylor is a very talented musician. He plays his own instruments(which would have been an obvious advantage to his "talentless" reputation on this years AI) and he did what any struggling musician that had a glimmer of hope to "make it" would have done, if they had any brains. Not to mention he is a very genuine and stand up guy. So all of you haters(losers), watch out for his next album that is sure to be Fantastic and True to this unbelievable musician!

If enough people had felt differently, he wouldn't have been dropped from his record label and would have been able to at least MAKE if not release a second record and he wouldn't be resorting to musicals to make money!

      Loved this guy when he was AI, and I went to a few shows. He puts on a great live show, but I must say his album stunk. Maybe worst album put out by someone out of AI, well, until Blake released his. His original pre-idol stuff is wonderful though. Hopefully the album he is talking about in the press today allows him to go back to his roots. Plus, he doesn't need to sell a million copies and never will, he just isn't that kind of artist.

      All I can say is I am glad I gave up on American Idol last season. Have not watched one episode this year. Its such a crap show.

      All of you are just jealous cuz Taylor gets to star as a teen angel, while your favorite Idol is off somewhere selling millions of records. You all act like the most important thing in an artists career is to sell records and get their music heard, when that ain't the case at all. I've talked to every artist in the business and every one of them told me that what they would trade all their platinum records and Grammy's, if they could just spend five minutes up on a stage wearing a pair of sweaty angel wings and singing about someone that Dropped out of Beauty School.       You forgot about Tamyra Grey…(im to lazy to go get my playbill at the moment…forgive me) just saw her as MiMi in RENT and was horribly upset. She was off key, overacted…even for Broadway, and was miscast…its my fave show and everyone else was pretty damn good but she ruined it a bit for me…

      and Broadway isn't something that "has-been's" do…it is an Amazing exp. and people are lucky to do it, some thrive on it where they can't make it otherwise…
