This is overwhelming!

So many positive changes have been happening in Cuba lately, under the new leadership of Raul Castro.

It's pretty unbelievable!

The latest is that…

The Cuban government is taking steps to combat homophobia and is even contemplating legalizing gay marriage.

Amazing!

It seems like just the other day that gays and lesbians in Cuba were being jailed and persecuted for their sexual orientation.

We knew our "sister" Raul would pull through for us!

A very good thing. The Cuban government legalized same sex relationships years back and there's a soap opera with a gay couple. Didn't watch it all the way through, but considering the fuss there was about the gay kiss on ATWT in the US, it is something to applaud.

As for the people claiming people don't have food in Cuba; this is simply untrue. Though not everyone has equal amounts of food and the quality of the food is not always to write home about, I think it would be fair to say more people have food in Cuba than they do in the US.

And for the people saying 'so they have food, shelter, medical care, but no freedom', in Maslow's hierarchy of needs, these things come before the concept of freedom. Freedom is of no good when you're dead!

Change is coming, slowly but steady it seems. You can't expect an overnight revolution, the revolution started years back with Fidel Castro is still going on - or so they say. Let the US stay out of Cuban affairs, there are enough educated, eager young people to bring about the change that is needed on that island.

Some Miami Cubans that are in the financial sector should get together and investigate how many BILLIONS Raul and Fidel have ROBBED from the Cuban people and STASHED in Swiss, etc. bank accounts. Fidel's ex bodyguard who defected regularly took cash overseas for the Castro brothers. I was last month in Cuba and its just like any other place…traight and gays everywere,. I stayed at peoples houses not in hotels and they have food, dvd, phones, music players, internet, cable,,,everything. Its just not comming from USA but yes from every other country.Also allot of new cars, new buildings, cellphones….tourism!!!!….It is not primitive as many may think

He tells me that among the high ranking officers, there was a rumor that Raul was actually homosexual. That explains his move on gays.
