The internet has changed everything. No need for newspapers. Or really, news outlets. Reuters is a very old firm, but like lots of old things, obsolescence is a real problem. It merged with Thomson and in any merger people are let go because of redundancy. Eventually most of those places will be down in number because they will put it all on the internet.
if you are going to state that they are firing people, it should be noted that they employ 50,000 people worldwide. in any merger lay offs are inevitable, so this is really not so bad. chill out. dont make blind statements when you dont understand what it is you are talking about.
I worked for thomson for about 2 years and been gone for about 1……..this company sucked ass and kept denying rumors that they were merging with reuters…low and behold 2 months later after i left, merger was annonced…I left because our dept was being outsourced to their office in India……..lots of depts were……..fuck them…i hope they go down the tubes….im happy that I left….

If it were an American business this rant page would be flooded with anti-Capitalistic comments and knee-jerks how the US is the great Satan.
Funny how it works huh.
Beth - idiot. They are also firing 1200 people at least in America. Real grasp on world economics you've got.
Why do you always put R.I.P. when you are announcing lay offs or when someone gets fired? Thats so lame Perez……………….
