Narnia's Price Caspian, English actor Ben Barnes, just landed a new gig.
He's been cast to play Oscar Wilde's iconic character Dorian Gray in a new adaptation of the author's novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray.
Good for hottie Barnes…going from kiddie fare to a serious lit role.
We saw Prince Caspian this past weekend and we loved it, even if Ben's accent was a bit wonky in it. (Was he trying to sound Latino???)
He's pretty to look at, and we don't mind seeing more of this bb on screen!

it was last week when he was on the jimmy kimmel live show… my friend and i went to the taping of it and we got to meet him!! he gave us both these giant hugs and touched our hands and oooh my god he's amazing. he talked to us for a couple minutes as well, and let me tell you, he is so gorgeous and beautiful… and he's so sweet and nice.
ahhh he's my current obsession!! : D

um.. how bout he's a fake king from a magical land. you didn't make fun of the narnians for having narnian accents- it's not a real place so it doesn't have a real accent. not everything is about people being or trying to be latino. but he is hot. whatever the accent.
Such a good play, I hope they don't ruin it.
But even if they do, at least we get some eye candy?

Oscar Wilde, mmm well, he can always ask NICK HOGAN for advice on what it is like 'inside'. Hope its a MODERN VERSION of OSCAR WILDE if the Producers/Writers or DIRECTOR is reading. There are hundreds of excellent classic versions out there..yawnnnn.. Do it like MODERN, like HAMLET. That was cool.just sayin.

Hmmmm, saw the play and there is a HEALTHY dose of nekkid in it, too.
He is amazing! But in the movie he wasn't really suppose to have an English accent, it was suppose to have a Meditterean (sp) sense to it. I don't think Prince Caspian is considered a kiddie role either! It was amazing!

One of the things we were talking about was how you had to create an accent based on a group that doesn't exist. There is no Telmarine accent, so how did you come up with that? Did you work with someone?
Ben: Yeah I did, a great dialect coach named William Conacher. We started off… our brief was to do a light Spanish accent. That was our brief because they said they were going to cast only Spanish actors who would be speaking the natural Latino English. And then he cast an Italian, a Mexican, a Spaniard, and a Flemish actor. And this was week one that we finalized the cast and I just went, "Now what do I do?" Because I had been working with a Spanish accent and so we basically just tried to alter it a little bit so it would sound a little bit like Miraz and Glozelle and those characters but a little bit lighter. I felt it was important to keep the intonation of an English accent, these are such English books and the dialogue is very English still and I felt it was important to keep the intonation, so a really thick accent I think would have been annoying actually. But in almost all my parts I've done a billion different accents, almost everything, and to my ear, I was actually ok with it.
No he was trying to sound SPANISH!!!! There is a difference from Spain and Latin America you Perez of all people should know that.

Dorian Gray is a highly sexually ambiguous character! Only a hot sexual person should play that character!
I don't think Ben Barnes should play that part… they need a male version of Angelina Jolie, or just cast Angelina Jolie as Dorian and make into a hetero relationship…

What a way to ruin one of my favorite films. Dorien Gray is more than about looking good. I don't see this guy being able to convey such a dark soul. He's got the Oscar Wilde hair though. hahaha!
Spanish inspired guey Mario. Yes he is supposed to have some Spanish /Mediteranian "flavour". Perez just borrows/steals from here and there but does little research/work.

Perez dear, you should really pick up a book. The Telmarines, which is what Prince Caspian is, are based on Hispanic people, so thats why Ben Barnes was the doing the accent, not because he just wanted to.
