Heartbreaking Discovery

Filed under: Politik > Sad Sad

tedken.jpg

Ted Kennedy has been diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor.

The 76-year-old was rushed to the hospital this past weekend with what family members thought was a stroke but ended up being a seizure caused by the malignant growth in his brain.

Malignant gliomas are a type of brain cancer diagnosed in about 9,000 Americans a year — and the most common type among adults. It's a starting diagnosis: How well patients fare depends on what specific tumor type is determined by further testing.

Average survival can range from less than a year for very advanced and aggressive types — such as glioblastomas — or to about five years for different types that are slower growing.

So sad.

Our thoughts and positive energy go out to the Senator and his family.

    8

Yes, it is sad. I wouldn't say heartbreaking. Heartbreaking would be leaving your date in a car crash and letting her die, knowing that all you had to do was tell someone and take the rap for being drunk. The Kennedy's are known for being America's camelot, but they are some of the most corrupt and misleading people. Ted Kennedy is a very shady and dangerous liberal character. People really should learn more history, and stop listening to liberal news media. Corruption, murder, adultery…what a great Camelot!

This guy's a jerk. He got away with manslaughter by letting that poor lady drown at Chappaquiddick. It was sad when his two brothers were killed, but much of the other Kennedy "tradegies" were self-inflicted. They brought it upon themselves! You need new heroes, Perez.

My sis was diagnosed with stage four glioma at age seven. She is now twelve and cancer free. This is not necessarily a death sentence. He needs to look into a specific cancer drug, Temodar in combo with radiation and his chances will improve.

    32

Maybe when he dies and gets to see Mary Jo Kapeckne again he can explain why he left her to drown in that car……Harsh I know,,,,,, but the truth is he isnt a really nice person. Perhaps this is some divine intervention or something like that?! Seriously the best thing he could do is to admit what he did all those years ago before he kicks the bucket.

  33. Perez doesn't know politicis says – reply to this

Yea, as "heartbreaking" as killing a young girl in the prime of her youth by letting her drown after his drunken ass drove off a bridge. No sympathy.

  42. Gen-Gap Gertie says – reply to this

    42

This will be interesting. Perez readers who only know of JFK as some sort of icon/legend. RFK same thing. Ted - leopard's don't change spots — but they get them on their cranial caps, instead. All 3 were power-hungry, womanizing and take-no-prisoners/leave-dead-bodies ambitious politicians. Don't wax poetic, kiddies. The only thing that makes Ted different is he fought the bottle for a long, long time. Don't get all misty-eyed on this news. Karma comes back…and in his case, it's a car at the bottom of a river with a girl trapped inside. Those born after 1980: Google "Mary Jo Kopechne" and THEN let's have you post!

  43. EP says – reply to this

oh who frickin cares who was first. stupid

thanks for posting that mario and I was a little kid when John and Robert Kennedy were assasinated. Yeah that puts me in the category of "old people" but anyway….thanks for the compassion you put into that post.

  46. tree says – reply to this

    46

Most people's deaths are very sad. Perhaps the sadness can be lessened by the the fact that this man did get to live to age 76 with a great amount of privilege, including not being incarcerated for Mary Jo Kopechne's death.

  47. That drunken fool...KARMA! says – reply to this

    47

He left an innocent woman in an overturned car in 1969. He's a piece of shit politician, like the rest of the SHADY KENNEDY'S. JFK was sleeping with Marilyn Monroe, RFK slept with the babysitter and Mr. Teddy Kennedy….got drunk at a party near Martha's Vineyard, crashed his car into water and left an innocent woman in the car….then never reported it to any authorities and went back to his hotel and to bed. It was nearly 24 hours before it got reported and he got off with just a suspended license. POLITICIANS SUCK!!!!!!!

  52. Sarah says – reply to this

    52

Good bye! Justice always catching up for you, there's a young girl in heaven who died under very "mysterious" circumstances thats enjoying this right now! Kennedy or not murder is murder! You cannot escape karma no matter how much money and influence your family has!

  53. from the grave says – reply to this

    53

Poor Mary Jo Kopeckne never had the opportunity to develop a tumor. Philandering drunk ass loser Ted took that away from her and never paid any dues.

  54. Brian says – reply to this

    54

Come on, is this really a surprise to anyone? Ted is a dipshit.

Its a toomah…… how funny that they are now related?

I mean water on the brain would be a better karma… someone said stroke and his brain thought of his escape route from Mary Jo and wham he had a seizure.

  55. SamM says – reply to this

    55

karma may be a bitch..but no one should ever wish this on another human being. my mother was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in 2003 and has gone thru 3 brain surgeries, radiation and years of chemo not to mention all the medication she's been on so she can be here today, and it's still not over.
shame on all of you for saying this family deserves this…it's obvious none of you have experienced this (brain cancer/tumor)

    Umm what?
You are giving sympathy to a guy who left a woman to drown because he was drunk? Maybe this is a BAD KAMA tumor. Perez, you give sympathy to the most unworthy people. You have a seriously warped sense of right and wrong. This guy deserves what he gets….what comes around goes around.

  59. Mary Jo Kopechne says – reply to this

    59

Come join me Ted! I've been waiting for you ever since you left me to drown in that drunken car crash. If anybody doesn't remember me, Google "Mary Jo Kopechne".

  60. thank god! says – reply to this

    60

To see so many responses referring to a historical event in which Edward Kennedy is responsable for a young woman's death gives me faith that Americans do know and care about other things that just celebrities and pop culture! Kudos to everyone who remembered what a scumbag this man is to let a young woman die to protect his political future. The fact that he has been re-elected all these years in spite of what he did has always been a mystery to me. Perez, you should take a cue from your readers who obviously know more than you. Teddy…what comes around goes around…it just should have come around sooner.

  66. brainchild says – reply to this

    66

He had alot of troubles but he did alot of good. He got along with everyone, even if they were on different sides of the fence. Plus he had amazing energy and memory for the tedious work involved in being a senator. I hope he can rest and enjoy the rest of his days with his family.

  67. FUTeddygraham says – reply to this

    67

Well, its amazing how selective people's memories are about their corrupt politicians. Cancer is just the tip of the iceburg for this fat f*ck. Couldn't have happened to a nicer person.

He's lived the good life and now I'm supposed to shed a tear for an ass*hole who never really did anything good for this country other that to bitch about Repubs, antiwar, and other BS.

Can anyone on here name one good actual good thing this scum has done?? Its all just smoke and mirrors, and hocus pocus. The only thing he's lived up too is the womanizing, lying politician Kennedy name. Good Legacy there, Teddy!!

Well I guess he'll be in good company in Hell.
I'm glad Satan won't be lonely, I'm sure it will do Hell, some good to have such a prestigious person with them.

    Murderer!!!

  69. DD says – reply to this

    69

This is unfortunate as my mother died of this heinous disease. But maybe with a high profile person having this, more people will realize how deadly grade 3 and 4 brain tumors are and more money will go to much needed research. At least with other high profile cancers there is hope. Brain tumors are deadly. Dont let the 1 in 1,000 miracles fool you.

  70. Cate says – reply to this

    70

He'd better not die. I'm expecting in November and I bought a onesie that says "Help! Ted Kennedy drives me to day care" for my baby. It would be just a tad too morbid to put that on her if he passes away.

Somehow I doubt Mary Jo's family is thinking "so sad" after hearing this news.

Karma — it's everywhere you're going to be.

  72. The Media Lies says – reply to this

    72

My mother died of the same thing when I was 16 years old. She had seizures for a few years before she passed, but they did not diagnose the tumor until the night before she died, despite numerous catscans and MRI's. What it ended up doing was growing to the point that it essentially caused bleeding & swelling on her brain, shutting down her other organs. It was a very hard death to watch, and the seizures are VERY scary.

I wish the best for him and his family. I know the Kennedy clan has the strength to make it through this!

Heading is wrong. Should be "KARMA PAYBACK." Not "HEARTBREAKING." (Note to SAM: I watched my dearest friend die of a brain tumor. Amazing what it did to her eyes in her sockets toward the end. Excruciating. Horrifying. Terrible way to die! I'm sure your beloved mom didn't cheat on her spouse, get drunk regularly, be self-serving in her career and finally, when given a chance to SAVE a life — ignore any rescue attempt. Ted didn't save MJ because in 1969, his political career would've been destroyed because the public would've found out that a) he was carrying on with an affair and b) he was DRUNK and caused the accident that killed Kopechne.
