Some might think he's a queen, but, now, he's officially a prince!
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Jake Gyllenhaal has been tapped to play the lead role in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.
Walt Disney is teaming up with Jerry Bruckheimer Films on Prince of Persia, an adaptation of Ubisoft's popular video game.
Production starts in July.
Video game adaptations have kinda sucked in the past.
We hope they break the curse this time!

Jake is so HOT, totally a physical guy, gorgeous and a great actor! I am really looking forward to this movie with Jake cast as our fantasy hero Prince! He's fueling my fantasies even more than usual at the moment…. sigh…..swoon. I am definetely going to see it, and probably have to add it to my DVD collection.

Jennifer Lopez played Italian in Wedding Planner, Angelina Jolie was British in Lara Croft: Tombraider, John Toturro who is Italian, played a Jew in the movie Quiz Show. If you really think about it, there are hundreds of actors who play people of different nationalities all the time. That's why it's called "acting."

Prince of Persia started as a video game, and the games were not "adaptations", the film is. They were quality and critically acclaimed games and actually did really well, too…try getting your facts right.

absolutely love gyllenhaal, but i seriously dont see him as Prince of Persia - no way - it juts doesnt work - if there was ever a list for top ten contenders for the role, he wouldnt even be on it.
i like jake, he's pretty swift. but it upsets me that they didn't give the part to someone of the proper ethnic origin. i'm quite happy that other comments have echoed this.

As a fan of the game, I have to say I am rather shocked but not surprised to see this casting. I've heard rumors in the past on this…..I just really hope that Disney doesn't sugarcoat it too much. A little is okay, but a lot is a no-no…..
