They Can't All Be Disney Theme Parks!

paramountlogo.jpg

Paramount Pictures said on Tuesday that developers will open a theme park and resort complex in South Korea in 2011 based on their movies like Mission: Impossible and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider.

The Tom Cruise ride is not meant for children or those afraid of scary Scientologists!

Paramount Movie Park Korea will have more than 30 attractions and it's predicted to draw more than 5 million visitors during its first year of operation.

A Paramount exec said, "South Korea is a fast-growing and attractive market. It's a business-friendly market and culturally sophisticated." He also said the park will prove attractive to international visitors.

There are also plans for theme parks based on the films of Universal Studios and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in South Korea.

Everyone wants a piece of the theme park biz!

We totally need to do a Perezland!

Wonderland (in Toronto) used to be owned by Paramount and they had two rides called Top Gun and Tomb Raider. Recently it was bought by some random company called Cedar Fair and they had to change the names.

all the paramount parks were sold last year to cedar fair. which btw is not a random company for those who think it is. they also own knotts berry farm, cedar point, guenga lake among a lot of other parks. viacom (paramount) sound of there 6 parks because they could no long keep up with the market, and my closest theme park kings island was starting to become rundown. i can barely imagine that they will be able to pull this off.

  22. belle says – reply to this
    22

actually, they were SHUT DOWN for saftey violations. The state of Ohio shut down King's Island after 27 people were injured (some required back surgery) when The Son Of The Beast malfunctioned. Cedar Fair dumped 100,000 into the park just to pass inspection to repopen!

  23. Oh man says – reply to this
    23

It's not in Toronto, it's in VAUGHAN! Like half an hour from Toronto !
    Anyway
After Paramount got taken over by Cedar Fair, they changed the name of everything that had to do with Paramount.

    Drop Zone –> Drop Tower
    Tomb Raider –> Time Warp
    Top Gun –> Flight Deck
Italian Job –> Back Lot Stunt Track
    Cliffhanger –> Riptide

    NOT COOL

ummm….see this is why i dont know about this site all the time
    paramount has had parks FOREVER!
all their parks were recently bought out by cedar fair now tho
Perez should know that since the Canadian Perez Loving fan picture that he has up on his site is taken at PARAMOUNT CANADA'S WONDERLAND!?!?!
I guess they decided to just keep one open…Wonderland was a lot better when it was owned by Paramount…all the ride names changed now…RIP my childhood..UGH

What the fuck? Paramount has Star Trek in their arsenal and they are not putting it in the park?! That's stupid. An MGM park should have their # 1 franchise: Rocky. The ride is that you get punched in the face by several black men.

Why South Korea? Because there is a huge population in a tiny area and it's easy for Koreans to get to one place to another. Koreans LOVE their theme parks. I live in Seoul and went to the "worst" park in Seoul and it was packed. Plus, there are tons of foreign teachers and army personal to cater to.

And Rico… read a newspaper. You embarrass all Americans with your ignorance.

Do you know what they do to 2 million dogs in South Korea every year? Torture them and kill them for food, boil them alive, hang them on a rope, etc. There is a also strong national Anti American theme in South Korea.
I think it is totally inappropriate, Paramount is a just another greedy studio looking to make a buck and this venture will fail.

So Paramount has been in the theme park biz for YEARS…..they owned Kings Island in Cincinnati for years and had lame named rides like Top Gun, Face Off, Outer Limits, etc. I have no idea why they sold; they had several identical theme parks throughout the country. They sold the park here in Cincinnati though about 3 or 4 years ago to Cedar Point. So now here in Ohio, just about every major theme park in the state is owned by Cedar Point.

Paramounts Kings Island already exists in Cincinnati Ohio where you can ride the movies.

They had the first "Mission Impossible Ride." I was there the day Tom Cruise opened it. They also have a "Face Off" ride that's awesome. & A "Tom Raider" ride that is awesome.

It didn't work at our theme park in Toronto (Maple) so why the hell do they think it will work in Korea??? Paramount practically ruined the great CANADA'S WONDERLAND with their fucked up movie franchise stuff. I love paramount movies, but they suck in the theme park business.
