In December 1999, Reeves' girlfriend Jennifer Syme gave birth to a stillborn daughter who was named Ava Archer Reeves. In April 2001, Syme was killed in a car accident. She was buried next to their daughter in the Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California. Though these events happened soon after the release of the first Matrix movie, he has only once spoken about them publicly, saying that he doesn't believe that things happen "for a reason."

I worked on lighting on the Johnny Mnemonic set and Reeves, who was a wonderfully nice guy by the way, was obviously smitten with one of the guys who came to the set just about every day; think he was an investor. They couldn't keep their eyes off each other and were inseparable when not shooting. Everybody seemed to know they were a couple, if only temporarily.
Maybe he is bi. don't know. but he was really taken by the other guy. maybe now he wants to try to start a family. wouldn't be the first time this happened with a gay or bi actor in hollywood. At his and her ages ,Winona Ryder a veteran of Hollywood, would be more understanding of his wants and needs. They are old friends.
