      I could care less as long as they keep the Border's the way they are.
      If Barnes and Noble just owns the company but keeps the layout and name i don't think it really matters.
      However, Borders was named one of the top places for the GLBT community to work and I REALLY hope that Barnes and Noble adopts the same policies of acceptance!

      too bad! Border's has much better in-store prices and sales.

      B&N charges publisher prices and rarely a discount unless you pay for one of their cards.

      guess I'll switch to on-line shopping since it's cheaper and free shipping and going to used book stores and the library.

      Barnes and Noble is changing for the better. Trust me, I work for them. I could really careless about them buying out Borders though. Unless it makes my paycheck bigger, who the fuck cares!

      I love Borders, the music section is amazing(I found some CD,s you wouldn't expect like Icons of Filth, Flux of Pink Indians, Exhumed and so on), The Movies section is great too. I get all of my B-rate cult and horror films there. The books are easier to find becuase the computer systems are really good. If Barns and Nobel bought Borders, I fear we would loose all of those great features.

      lame. borders is way better than barnes and noble. B&N is like so christian right it hurts. and the employees there are aholes, versus at borders they are generally college kids that hate their job and don't mind looking for over an hour to help you find that one dvd even if it's at a store 30 minutes away just so they have something to do. plus there are always way cooler and more interesting homeless people hanging out in the borders cafe.

      Too bad for Borders. But this was a long time coming. Piss-poor management at the top. And they let all the customer-oriented booksellers go in favor of workers for lower wages. I have worked for both Borders and B&N The whole superstore theme is over! We need more niche bookstores and more booksellers who love books. Last week, my sister was talking about her son needing a book for school. I suggested some bookstores around my area, but she just laughed at me and said she would just go online. I curse the web! haha! j/k, but I do think we need more bookstores!

      The fact of the matter is….Borders isn't even competition for Barnes and Noble. Barnes and Noble is the #1 specialty store in the country. And Borders will go under if SOMEONE doesn't buy them. If all you people would ask an employee for a book instead of wandering aimlessly, maybe you'd find one. Secondly, if any of you had been in a decent-sized B&N you'd know that they've just begun their trial customer computer kiosks. Not that it would mean the stupid people who shop there would be able to find the book once they know the section. Barnes and Noble rules, I worked for them for 4 years and I'd do it again!

      Oh please no. B & N is stuffy, snobby and you can't find shit! Not to mention, they pulled my favorite genre, which is Horror, and stuffed it in with the regular fiction, now I can't find new authors and I have to look at the spine of the books to see if it is actually listed as Horror. I don't have time to look through 20k pieces of fiction to find my Horror. It doesn't help the new authors in the genre either. Oh, and Borders employees are way cooler. And Borders doesn't ask you at the register if you want to BUY a discount card like B & N does. F that. If anyone reads my rant you get *2* cookies.

      B&N is okay but I prefer Broders too! Borders was here long before B&N moved into town and there are only two Borders — both within about 100 yards of newer B&N stores by my house. I am sure B&N would love to shut them down. If I could only have one, I pick Borders!

      Barnes and Noble is a 100% blue ( Democrat) company, so whoever left that comment about Barnes and Noble being Christian right is far off. I like both stores, Borders has more attractive setups but I think books are easier to find in Barnes.

      BARNES & NOBLE RULES

      Ummm… I work for B&N. It is a very LIBERAL NY-based company that was one of the FIRST to offer domestic partner benefits. So whoever said it was Christian right or stuffy is retarded. We don't believe in consorship so we sell anything.

      Also…most of B&N stores don't have computers for you to look up your books (though some do) because we specialize in CUSTOMER SERVICE and we hire intelligent literate people to HELP you find the books.

      If you think Borders is better, you don't know about business. Or books.

      Well, the facts are still very wrong. I've never seen a news report saying Borders is out of money. B&N is just jumping the gun. Borders was unable to sell it's pacific rim area stores as they had planned. That left them short on what they had planned for the fiscal year. Hell, their opening up a bunch of new stores and redesigning a few into the concept stores. So B&N buying out Borders is unlikely. Hell, their doing worse fiscally than Borders.

      old news. been floating around for months. Borders locally sucks here in Michigan. I stopped shopping over a year ago. BN is okay (I have stock) but sucky prices. Amazon is the way to go nowadays-better yet-the library. you will need the cash for gas anyways.

      I USED to work at B&N, and it sucked - it's just a fucking corporate machine AND they seem to be more conservative. Borders is by far better - better selection, better prices, better gifts and crap to buy, they don't try to shove their "cards" down your throat, etc. I like to get in and get out as quietly as possible.

      And seriously to those of you who CAN'T use your GOD DAMNED BRAINS and make an honest attempt at trying to figure out where your books might be, YOU SHOULD JUST KILL YOURSELVES. YOU people are FUCKING ILLITERATE. People like you is what makes customer service jobs for the people that HAVE to work them like hell. USE COMMON SENSE!! I suppose you just want attention though and for someone to pretend to give a crap about you for five seconds. And what's funny is that the people who need help and hand holding are the ones who are so damn RUDE. DON'T ACT LIKE THE WHOLE WORLD IS OWED TO YOU.
