Tragedy in Tennessee

Contemporary Christian music star Steven Curtis Chapman lost his youngest child on Wednesday evening after a horrible accident in the family home.
According to reports, the singer's daughter was struck by a car driven by her teenage brother in the driveway of the family’s Tennessee house.
Several children were playing in the area at the time of the accident.
The teen said he did not see Maria in the driveway before the vehicle struck her.
Authorities say no charges are expected.
The accident was witnessed by two other children.
So sad.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Chapman family.

Oh no. This makes me so sad. I live in Tennessee and remember seeing SCC with his oldest daughter at the DMV when she was getting her drivers license. You could tell me was getting sentimental that his baby was all grown up and driving. He seems like a great dad.
this is so sad. my condolences go out to the family. there's a family that live down the street from me and basically the same thing happened to them. there is nothing more painful than losing a child and i'm sure she is at peace wherever she is. to her sibling who did this i hope he/she is not blaming himself and that the whole family remember with love the memories they share about their beautiful daughter.

No brittany! Jesus was very mad at something they did! They probably didn't go to church enough or maybe they forgot to pray the night before or maybe they forgot to kneel before accepting communion or maybe they put out a burning bush that jesus lit up with his holy power! I lived in Nashville for 6 years and have seen SCC in concert many times - I remember when he brought his daughter back from China how happy they all were. This is so incredibly tragic and sad but instead of posting such mean and negative comments no matter what you believe in you could still be kind and respectful during their difficult time. Crazy things happen to EVERYONE no matter who you are! Love endures!

Christian or not, If you buy a teenager a vehicle that big- Something bad is likely to happen. Statistically, Kids aren't good drivers and I would suppose that they're even worse when they're trying to maneuver something roughly 1/2 the size of an RV. I'm sorry for their loss, though.

Prayers and well wishes are need for this family and the millions of other families who suffer the loss of a child. Please remember all of the Chapman's as this is a two sided tragedy, not only are they suffering the loss of little Maria, but her older brother is never going to be the same again.

PEREZ, as a fan of Steven Curtis Chapman I want to THANK YOU for taking time out to report on this tragic event. The Chapman's are a great family who have done lots of work for orphaned children in China (they have 3 adopted children from there). Please be praying for them, and again thank you for reporting on ALL aspects of entertainment, and political news.
Perez,,,,, please post some information about their family organization that helps people fund their adoptions! Maria (the child killed) was one of their their adopted children from China. They have helped fund over 1700 adoptions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This story is so tragic, my family is praying for him and his family, this will be something veryhard to deal with for a very long time. And for the obsene, pubecent , ignorant people posting nonsense on here, your time will come, and we all know where you will end up, without air conditioning, what you don't understand is that christians know when they are called to heaven, they are called, it isn't sad for us, sure, the moment is sad, but it's a joyous occasion knowing we will be spending eternity in heaven with our God, you can know Jesus too if you would just open your eyes and grow up, but we know most of you won't, and we feel sad for you, because you will be missing out on one of the greatest treasures we have to look forward to……so sad.

Thanks for posting this, Perez. The Chapmans adopted three of their children from China & have an organization to help parents wishing to adopt, but who often cannot afford the expenses. I think it's call Shaohannah's Hope. PLease look into it & get the word out. Iwas blessed to adopt my daughter from China 8 years ago. I can't imagine what the Chapman family must be going through at this time.

Question for Christians, I don't think I was trying to get you to believe anything, I was just stating what Chritians believe, we believe, God gave his only son Jesus to die so we can be clean from sin, He gave his son for everyone, for gay people, straight people, everyone, he doesn't love one more than another. He loves all the same weather you believe or not. He loves you. That is what we believe, and in that belief, we are commanded to love as God loves us, not to judge or be rude or unloving. This is what Steven and his family believe too, that is why they have adopted 3 beautiful children and have help thounsands of other families do the same, it is the love of Jesus that lives in us, that promps us to love others. Anyone, who proclaims to be a Christian, should love like Jesus loved. That is how people know you are a Christ follower!
