According to Charlie Sheen's friends, Denise Richards is a big fat liar.

The fame-seeking, money-hungry, desperate attention whore is making it seem like she's hard up for cash, when she's really been making millions by not even lifting a finger.
After her split from Sheen, she received $60,000 a month, tax free, for two years in alimony.
Almost $1.5 million in two years!!! For doing nothing!
Oh, and she ALSO receives $52,000 a month, also tax-free, in child-support for her two kids with Sheen, Lola and Sam.
Damn, if we were Sheens' attorneys, we'd want to see monthly receipts for the kids that add up to $52k a month.

Turns out Richards makes well over $600k a year just on child support.
Oh, and it's reported that she also gets a piece of Sheen's show, Two and a Half Men, which eventually will give her up to $25 million!

Good News For Idol
Perez, have some class. Charlie Sheen is filth. Denise Richards is probably as dumb as a bag of rocks, evidenced by her marrying him in the first place. That doesn't negate the woman's right to earn a living though. These children have been paraded on TV and through photo ops by both parents. If he truly is as blameless as he'd like people to believe, he should have some dignity and keep his mouth closed. The constant spectacle of statements and counterstatements from both parties is about publicity, not about facts. Charlie has taken the children on TV, so there's no basis to freak on her for doing the same. I feel bad for the children because their parents are so bitter, nasty and immature. I wouldn't want to grow up with a dad who abuses women or a mother that bounces between loser sorta-celebrities. Still, she's entitled to work. If she can leverage being married to that creep into a career for herself, then more power to her. I'm not a fan of either, and I don't plan to watch her show. But some balance on your part would be nice.

Um, let's just say I am a dweller in Malibu. I constantly see miss Richards out and about with her girls. There is nothing fake about her love for those kids. I do think it's disgusting how they play out their divorce in public. Finally, she is being graceful about answering questions about Charlie (as seen on the View..well handled I must say). 52k may sound like lot to most people in America, but it really isn't taht over the top over here. The well known private school nearby would take up about 70% of that monthly income. Now let's include all the snotty kid bday parties & extravegent gifts these Malibu moms are used to buying to outdo each other. Add in the nanny costs, private music/dance lessons, endless Juicy Couture suits for babies, eating at Nobu every other day….yep. A disgustingly lavish lifestyle..but it's the norm and she deserves it. Charlie set that up from the getgo & it's only fair that the children continue to live the same way. I see it all the time.
1. Charlie has a proven bad track record. Let's hope he's changed his ways and continues to provide his daughters a loving, stable, consisent environment when they visit him. Lord knows Denise is a psycho who will continue to drag her children into her "poor mommy' victim life… she needs to just pick up the pieces and move on!!!!

Child Support is not about costs it takes to raise a child. It is about insuring the children have the same life style with their parents apart as they would if their parents stayed together, which is why it is a percentage of the non-custodial parents income, and not calculated off of expenses. This is why some women receive child support of $100 a month and others $52,000.

The amounts are usually determined by the annual income of the payer, not how much the recipient requires. He makes millions so he pays more than the average Joe.

Alimony isn't tax-free Perez, it's the exception to the "tax nothing" status for property exchanged in a divorce, and Charlie gets a deduction for paying it. So it's looks like he's doing a little lying himself. Not that it makes Denise Richards any less of a ho-bag, but I thought you might want to know!

Alimony is not tax free. You have to add it to your income which then increases your Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) thus increasing your tax liability.

Re: Michelle – Child support is not tax deferred. Its non-taxable. Tax deferred means that the tax isn't paid in the year in which it is received but tax will be (deferred) paid in some later year. Receipients will never pay taxes on the child support.

Section 71(a) and section 61 of the internal revenue code INCLUDES alimony payments in gross income, thus alimony is taxable. Section 71(c) EXCLUDES child support from gross income, thus child support is non-taxable. In addition, the frontloading provision of section 71(c) does not determine whether alimony itself is taxable or nontaxable. It looks at the alimony payments to determine whether they were actually alimony payments. Its purpose is to prevent taxpayers from disguising property settlements as alimony in order to take advantage of the deduction allowed for the payor of alimony (section 215). Property settlements are not deductible for the payor. By disguising the properrty settlement as alimony payments, the payor is able to take a deduction that it otherwise wouldn't be able to and the government is losing out on tax dollars. Obviously, the government doesn't like losing tax money so the recapture provision requires the amount of the excess alimony taken as a deduction to be included in the payor's gross income.

As a seasoned tax professional, alimony is not tax free. Line 11 on tax form 1040 is for alimony recieved. Line 31a is where Charlie reports what he's paid. Child support is tax free.
