It's happened.
Madonna is going back to Michigan for the first time in many many years.
Her Madgesty is set to headline this year's Traverse City Film Festival.
She will arrive on August 2nd to show her documentary about Malawai, I am Because We Are.
Michael Moore, the event founder, said Madonna "will present the film in person, watch it with the audience and conduct a question-and-answer session afterwards. It's a huge coup for the Film Festival, and for Traverse City."
Tickets to view Madonna's docu will go on sale next month, a whole month earlier than tickets will go on sale for the rest of the films.
Obvs people should buy them quickly, since the downtown theatre only seats 540.
Moore adds, "She spent the past couple of years filming what the people go through, and the efforts to help them. I saw the film about a month ago. It's a fantastic, powerful movie."
The festival takes plac from July 29th through August 3rd.
As a special offering, they will be showing A League of Their Own at the Open Space on the same night as Madonna's film shows.
Moore adds, "I've got a couple other surprises up my sleeve for the Film Festival," he said.

Rochester is a Detroit suburb, TC is way the fuck up north full of hicks with no diversity whatsoever. They all think it is so beautiful and wonderful-ya maybe for the 2 months of the year when it's not freezing. I lived in traverse city for 4 years. i think that the film festival is a great addition to the cultural aspect of traverse city. I hope that she shows and does not disappoint!!!! TC i miss you!!

Traverse City is very supportive of the arts and it is no wonder the film festival has done so well for only being a few years old. There have been many celebrities honored there such as Jeff Daniels and Christine Lahti. The festival likes to honor successful artists from Michigan, what is wrong with that? Madonna, clearly, has done very well. I am glad she is making a public appearance there. I just hope it is for the good of the festival, her film, and the area… and not just a publicity stunt.
Don't knock Traverse City unless you have been there, it is beautiful and fun- it is not the most culturally diverse place but it certainly is progressing. I try to get there as often as I can. It is no wonder so many people vacation there. Perez, if you have the chance to see it, I promise you would enjoy it

Traverse City is the best city in the world (my hometown)!!! By the way, Madonnas family has a winery up here…she is bound to show up!!! We have always said it is the next Hamptons and let me tell you, each year they become more and more alike.

Traverse City is a fun town! And the film festival goes on during the Cherry Festival. It sounds honky but it's hardly that. Lots to do, lots of awesome bands to watch, etc etc etc. Perez, you should check it out!
