Good to see he's doing better.
In a new video made by Sen. Edward Kennedy, the recovering politician says it's "good to be home" in Cape Cod.
He continues by acknowledging the "incredible amounts of wonderful notes and letters from friends and colleagues in the Senate, as well as from people here in outpouring of support," which were very uplifting he said.
On Wednesday, President George Bush said, "All of us are so pleased that Senator Kennedy has gone home, and our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."
Kennedy has currently been spending some well deserved time with his wife Victoria, sailing around Nantucket Sound.
He was expected to deliver a commencement address this Sunday at Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
A statement from his office said, "Senator Kennedy accepted knowing it would be an historic opportunity for the school and all those attending, including his daughter Caroline Raclin who is graduating and his son Ted Jr. who is attending his reunion."
Instead, Presidential hopeful Barack Obama, whom Kennedy is supporting, will be filling in for the senator.
Obama released a statement saying "Considering what he's done for me and for our country, there's nothing I wouldn't do for him."

Just like her parents and family had to do after being denied her in their lives for the last 39 years. Did you know the police said she probably survied for at least 2 hours in that vehicle before before she died? That woman could have lived if Ted Kennedy had only called someone….do you actually think any positive actions in his life could have made up for this great act of cowardice? I think not! Accidents do happen and it can be hard to forgive. If is was you who had done the same thing or one of your family members, I'd think you would want forgiveness also.

Yes, accidents do happen and are forgiven when the person owns up and make ammends. Kennedy did none of that…he was more worried about covering his married ass, so for NINE hours, he did nothing but try to cover up his involvement….and because of this, a woman died. Cover up, cover up, cover up….there is no forgiveness in my opinion for a coward who has never owned up to his causing a woman to die. Mary Joe did not die from going into that pond, she was alive for almost two hours struggling in an air pocket to remain alive. The responders found the car and body in about 30 minutes…she could have lived…address that issue…the only one that matters as far as I am concerned.

The Chappaquiddick incident refers to the circumstances surrounding the 1969 death of Mary Jo Kopechne, a former staff member in Senator Robert F. Kennedy's 1968 presidential campaign. Edward Kennedy was driving a car with Kopechne as his passenger when the Senator drove off Dike Bridge into the channel between Chappaquiddick Island and Martha's Vineyard. The Senator swam to safety, but Kopechne died in the car. Kennedy left the scene and did not call authorities until after Kopechne's body was discovered the following day. He pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident and was sentenced to two months in jail, suspended.
In January of 1970, an inquest into Kopechne's death took place in Edgartown. At the request of Kennedy's lawyers, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ordered the inquest be conducted in secret.[11][12] Judge James A. Boyle presided over the inquest. His conclusions were as follows:
"Kopechne and Kennedy did not intend to return to Edgartown" at the time they left the party.
"Kennedy did not intend to drive to the ferry slip".
"[Kennedy]'s turn onto Dike Road was intentional".
Judge Boyle also said that "negligent driving appears to have contributed to the death of Mary Jo Kopechne".[12]
Under Massachusetts law Boyle could have ordered Kennedy's arrest, but he chose not to do so.[12] District Attorney Dinis chose not to pursue Kennedy for manslaughter, despite Judge Boyle's conclusions.(wikipedia.org)
It's outrageous to me that people are willing to justify murder and the subsequent covering up of crimes as an "accident" or "mistake" that occurred in youth. The correct term we're looking for is not "accident", the word is murder. Driving drunk and having an accident is a horrible, irresponsible mistake. Leaving your passenger to die, not reporting it to the authorities is criminal. It's murder. Ted said NOTHING about what happened until the cops were fishing out the car THE NEXT DAY and he knew the jig was up. And to top it off, he spent NO TIME in jail. Simply outrageous.
What about him "helping" out his nephew when his nephew raped a girl. And by help I mean hampering the investigation and painting the victim a whore. Sick and wrong. Ted's spent his drunken life trying to weasel out of doing time for his criminal behavior. Any one of us without those family ties and money would be rotting in jail.
Ted Kennedy is not a good person and should be reviled for the murdering coward he is, not looked up to as some sort of hero. If that is a hero in this country, no wonder we're in such sorry shape. Somehow I have a feeling if this were all happening to a Republican, Perez would not have so much sympathy. There are so many other, more upstanding citizens, who are worthy of our well wishes and prayers. Not that I wish ill on Ted, I don't and I feel bad for his family. But I will be saving my positive thoughts for Mary Jo and her family. Murder is murder and time should NEVER erase that. It's just as wrong today as it would have been a hundred years ago.
