A New #1

The TV season is over and…

Fox has come in as the most popular in America, beating out ABC, NBC and CBS.

Fox averaged 11.1 million viewers in prime-time this season through Tuesday, up 7&% from last year. The numbers will probably inch up when the American Idol finale is figured in.

This is the firs time since the network started in 1987 that it has come in at #1 in the ratings for the season.

Every other net must be livid!

Fox only came out in 1st because their most popular show still ran when the other programs were on hold due to the writer's strike. So basically it was reality show vs. reality show. In my opinion it shouldn't count.

So what does CBS do to make matters worse for their network cancel one of the best shows they have going for them MOONLIGHT. Awesome show. No wonder their ratings dropped when they make not so smart decisions like that…

I feel exactly the same. I really hope Fox picks up Moonlight so CBS will be even more upset and realise just how stupid they have been! Ha!;)

FOX doesn't have a lot of high rated shows. It's riding the backs of Idol and House to #1. If you look at the tv ratings, those are the only shows that are in the top 20. ABC and CBS split the rest.

Well it's cuz FOX♥ iz the shit! Them other networks are just cheesy predictable shit, all their show are lame az lame can be. I'll only watch FOX! Fox only programs 15 hours per week in primetime while ABC/CBS/NBC each program 22 hours. It's tougher when you have 7 more hours to fill.

Is that a surprise? CNN and MSNBC have shown just how biased they are towards Obama. They're trash, offering way more propaganda than Fox News which seems like *sigh* the most reliable news station in today's America. I've turned to Fox now just like I'll be turning to McCain in the next election. Far-left liberals have made me feel ashamed of being a democrat.

Haha, NBC! That's what you get for switching Kevin Reilly with Ben Silverman. They're both good but that really sucks that they kicked Kevin away a year ago. Especially after they had just renewed his contract! They should've paired Kevin and Ben. And Marc too, I guess.

Fox is the #1 network for several reasons:

1]"American Idol" - despite the fact that the ratings have started to tank.

2] Fresh programming during the writers strike. Thanks to shows like "New Amsterdam", "Moment of Truth", "Canterbury's Law" [all except "Moment Of Truth" now canceled], and "Terminator: The Sara Connor Chronicles", plus held over episodes of "House", "The Simpsons" and Seth McFarlanes' "Family Guy" and "American Dad", FOX were able to beat the reruns and lame reality shows on other networks.

3]It also helped that FOX had the most-watched Super Bowl ever. Seeing the New York Giants knock off the unbeaten New England Patriots was the ratings event that pushed FOX over the top. No SB42, FOX probably would have come in 2nd place.

Re: Whateva – God I hate when people who don't work in the industry comment on industry news…
The sports and NASCAR shit doesn't affect prime time ratings numbers directly since they are not; drumroll please: prime time programming.
Ratings numbers are derived from when a show starts not when it ends. So seeing as all football games start before 3pm on Fox, it's impossible for their ratings to figure in.
Contrast that with NBC who DOES have a Primetime football broadcast in their ratings and their misery is even greater than it appears.
Oh and Fox is all for rednecks and 'middle america' huh? Explain why their shows trend heavily towards the coasts then dumb fucks. Fox and Fox News Channel are not one in the same. Both are great channels, but they are far from the same. Fox has always been edgy and racier than the other networks. Not exactly qualities one equates with 'middle american conservatives' is it?

  37. Kevin says – reply to this
    37

BTW for all you monkeys that think Fox has some right agenda. It doesn't. Other media outlets are just so (admittingly) leftist that Fox just looks right.

They actually scored more in the middle than any other news source. So in other words, people are so used to hearing the leftist spin of the news, when they watch fox they think there is a bias. Having said that Fox DOES have an American bias. As do most news outlets that are the communist news network.

The other stations (such as CBS) cut their own throat when they cancel shows like MOONLIGHT. Might as well throw away 8 million viewers, guess they don't think they need us? Why would anyone bother getting involved in shows that are just going to be cancelled anyway?

    People….get ur facts straight.

First, The FOX television network has finished #1 in Adults 18-49 for five years in a row now. This past season, FOX finished #1 in Adults 25-54 AND #1 in Adults 18-49. This is without the Superbowl.

The OX News Channel is not affiliated with FOX television….it is just a part of NewsCorp, the parent company of FOX television.

I weep for the future of this country, if all we have to rely on is the stupidity of the people on this site.

I started watching FOX News because everyone was talking about how byast they were. I found just the opposite. I noticed that they are the only channel where the people actually fess up to what their political stance is and they always have conservative pundints argue their points with liberal pundints. They have very, very big libs like Maura Liason and Juan Williams and Alan Colmes on their staff and they let them duke it out with consrvatives so you get to hear both sides. It's BRILLIANT! and FAIR!!!. The other channels are all staffed with liberal journalists who "claim" to be unbiased, but it's kind of silly as everyone knows where they really stand. The former Head of the DNC, Terry McCauliffe actually came on Fox the other day and said he was amazed the they were really very fair with their coverage of Hillary Clinton. That's what won me over. You really can't name a show on FOX that doesn't have two people of total opposite opinions debating. They are the only ones that do that and that's why they are winning fans. They won me.
