I went out to the Arclight this past weekend and saw it. I think it fit in with the rest of the movies quite well. It was campy and fun, but if your not into that type of movie, of course you're not going to like it.

      41

I saw Indie this weekend. Sad to say, Shia was not as bad as I was expecting him to be. There are some fans complaining about the CGIs and alien crafts, but whatever. It was still enjoyable.

Here is a review of the new Indiana Jones movie that I wrote and posted elsewhere under another sign on name:

It is sad to say it, but this is not a good film. The first 20 minutes show great promise…but shortly after that, the film falls apart. The movie referenced the best moments of Raiders…and the worst moments of it’s sequels…and oddly films that have ripped-off past Indy films? Time after time, these scenes were copied…but not approved upon…no, they were greatly diminished!!!

Cate Blanchett was the only shinning moment in the film…in fact, she stole every scene that she was in, and I am not even a fan of her’s, or at least, I wasn’t until I saw this movie. The camera loves her. She is smart and over sexy at every turn…and that is a good, and even great, thing. I think I fell in love with her. A love triangle between Blanchett’s character and that of Indy and his lady love as played by Allen, would have raised the proceedings, but alas, that was not to be.

Unfortunately, one could sense that numerous writers pieced the film’s script together as it was often disjointed, sloppy and embarrassing to watch. There were no real high stakes for the characters and that is the film’s main failing.

      44

really cause it sucked im an indy fan and it sucked ass what indy film includes aliens its treasure to show the growth of civilization is because of aliens makes us look dumb and the whole story was just a waste I say it cuts off at 3 this one was just a producer flick

    45. Novel1 says – reply to this

      45

It was only okay - not sure I would recommend it. Yes, it kept in line with the others, but the ending was a little too over-the-top for this Spielberg fan. Was he just trying to blend together every single movie the two of them had ever made? (American Graffiti meets Raiders meets Close Encounters) If that's the case, I was disappointed that JAWS didn't leap out of the water and try and munch them!

    46. m4gg333 says – reply to this

      46

Hmmm…some people are either overly-serious, had the grandest of expectations, love to be unimpressed or just didn't like the '1950's B-Movie' tone…I mean…the first movies were campy and tongue in cheek with a 1930s serial tone…why should this one be any less? Don't romanticize the first three (cuz you probably remember them as better than they actually are) and this one is on par, if not second to 'Raiders'.
      *****
And the ending was no more outrageous than the other three films…Ark of the Covenent? Those weird Stones? The Holy Grail? Seeing as it's the 1950's in this film, the subject is totally relevent to the time and is cleverly dealt with. Plus the way it weaves actual, factual atrifacts, places and theories into the mythology is a lot of fun…but not everyone knows about 'crystal skulls' and 'Nazca lines' and most everyone knows 'Holy Grails' and 'Arks'…
      ******
'Best' movie of the year? Nope. Most entertaining and worth your money? Probably.

It sucked. Hardly a plot line, the most over-the-top stunts that were way tacky. Bleh, I should have stayed home and gotten drunk.

      61

The beginning was good, the end was okay, the middle was one long ho-hum, too long of a chase scene in the middle, too straight forward, no big mystery. Overall, I'd say it was average, not my favorite Indiana Jones movie, but Harrison Ford was looking $126 million HOT for a 65 year old man! :*)

I was SOOO excited to see the new Indy movie, I was so sure it would be awesome considering all the talented people (and huge budget) involved. I went to see this last night with 7 other people, several of whom were big fans of the Indy franchise.

Every single one of us was STUNNED by how fucking stupid the movie was. Like unbelievably, insultingly, ridiculously bad. Huge, huge disappointment all around. It was truly one of the worst movies I have ever seen.

I don't even know how to respond to someone who claims to have loved this movie. *shakes head*

I mean… damn you Spilberg!! First ET, Close Encounters, War of the worlds, Transformers… Enough already!
BUT WHY INDY?? WHY WHY WHY?? Best way to ruin a great movie.. it took you 20 years and you end up with THIS?!

But Ford and LaBeouf… HOT HOT HOT HOT!!

Loved seeing Harrison Ford reprise his Indiana Jones character. Loved the humor throughout the movie making fun of his advanced age. That being said, the movie was too fantastic and unbelieveable and as someone else pointed out, really jumped the shark with the alien space beings and space ship at the end. Stoooopid.

Of course you loved it Perez, it is one of the only things GAYER than you. The first 3 Indy movies you can say, ehhh, it could happen. This one was just a desperate cry for money. Shia LeDouche was only in the film to play Adrian to Harrison's Rocky. "That won't work", "You can't go that way", "You can't win Rocky", ad naseum. Oh, I forgot, Shia was also cast because he made the best Tarzan, swinging through the trees indeed. Utter shit.

I knew it would make a lot of money. Number 1 Prince Caspian didn't do as well as expected. Number 2, iron has been out over 3 weeks., Number 3 there was no other competition. I still don't get why it's doing so well. I have no intention of seeing it. Oh, I forgot I never saw the other 2 an didn't relish the idea of seeing a 65 year old man doing more of the same.

By the way, all the people who say that the alien thing was too far-out; I just wanna say that considering that the movie takes place in 1957 and the enemies were Soviets, I think it fit in just fine. Just like the earlier Indy films were about the adventure/exotica movie style of the 1930s, this one unabashedly embraced the sci-fi/pulp style of the 50s.

UFOs are real. Just who or what is piloting them…I don't know…but I have a good guess. This film however was not executed correctly. The film needed a Close Encounters Of The Third Kind ending…instead we got the exact ending from the X-Files movie…and it didn't fit???!!! But forget about the ending, the whole film was a mess, save for the first 20 minutes.

    99. Zip says – reply to this

      99

As far as the nuke sequence, Indy should have scrambled and happened upon a nuclear blast re-enforced bunker…and rode an elevator downward several miles to a hidden base underneath the ground as the blast went off. That would have been logical and believable as such bunkers and elevator lifts actually exist running miles under the ground!!! Hell, even the rocket chair bit could have been moved to that sequence to serve this very same purpose. Why they didn't do that, who knows???

    100. ACMHK says – reply to this

The movie was truly horrible. Like really really bad. BAD. Don't waste your money.
