      142

A constant supporter of peace and human rights, he'll be remembered by all as great director and actor! The Media forgot to mention among his many credits Sydney's recurring role in the final season of "The Sopranos," as Johnny Sac's infirmary orderly: a convicted double-murdering oncologist.

    43. Melissa says – reply to this

      143

He DIED of cancer! Why do people write LOSE their battle!! If they die of pneumonia you don't say they LOST their battle with pneumonia. If they die in a car accident you don't write they lost their battle with an automobile! Cancer is awful, but it doesn't deserve to make "heroes" and "victims".

Caitlin,#98 You are right. A disease isn't capable of intent. And Sydney, like your Mother, died with dignity.
I am sorry for the loss of both of them. Thank you for pointing that out, caitlin. That never sounded right to me, either, but I didnt know why.
I loved Sydney Pollack. He just seemed like such a likable man. And so prolific. One of those people who loved life, loved people, and loved his work. Something tells me he loved his family, too.
      Heartfelt condolonces to them.
Syd, you'll make God smile and laugh in heaven. We will miss you.

I liked Sydney.. He was great as the doctor cameo in "Death Becomes Her" however, I have heard that he died moments after the screening of "Recount" (Which he produced)..

      Talk about Karma.

Using one's talent for propaganda never amounts to shit, thank you Sydney for wrecking your image.

I was so shocked to hear this. I didn't even know he was sick with cancer. He brought so much to the entertainment industry. My favorite work of his is probably This Property is Condemned and The Way We Were. You will be missed so much Mr. Pollack.
