Kirsten Dunst has revealed that she received treatment for depression, not drug or alcohol abuse, at Cirque Lodge in Utah last year.
Or so she'd like us to believe!
Dunst said, "There’s been a lot of misrepresentation about what is going on in my life, and it’s been very painful for my friends and family. Everyone feels like they have to defend me. They hear the rumors, and it puts them in a defensive position. Now that I’m feeling stronger, I was prepared to say something."
Kiki says mental illness doesn’t know any boundaries — Hollywood stars, your non-Hollywood next door neighbor — it hits everyone, “We’re all in the same boat together. Depression is pretty serious and should not be gossiped about.”
We're glad that she got the help she needed, whatever it was for.
And we hope she's not lying about why she went into rehab!

I just have to say its sad that there is speculation for why she sought help for MEDICAL reasons (alcoholism and depression are both diseases and shouldn't be joked about). Who cares if she is lying, the fact is she probably is telling the truth in order to defend herself. Just because they are in Hollywood doesn't mean it's fair that they pay the price of scrutiny and living in a fish bowl. It seems because they have an ounce of fame they are no longer afforded the luxury of PRIVACY or being HUMAN, for that matter. This will be my last visit to this intrusive site (not that it matters) and I hope others see the waste of money, time and energy this site encompasses. On another note, Perez's fame is ridiculous. Because hes a bitchy homosexual with a big mouth does not equate to talent nor does it deserve any respect. You're just as bad as those you bash on this site. You are a hypocrite and making a living off of the fallen fruit of Hollywood. Good Riddance. You've become so judgmental, Perez, it's and it's disappointing. I'm no fan of Dunst, but not every celebrity out there who is in need of some sort help is a drug abuser or alcoholic. I was in a rehabilitation center last year for the exact same reason, depression, and I heard the same crap from people. You should only be wishing Kirsten a speedy recovery and good spirits for the future, not jumping to a conclusions on a matter concerning someone you know nothing about. It's rude, insensitive, and inappropriate on all levels.

I dont think she is lying…but depression is often the cause of addictions…so she might not tell the whole truth about this…she might have had problems with some addiction or some kinds of drugs coz she was depressed..and u often treat the addiction by treating the things that where behind it in the first place..

Depression is a very traumatic thing to go through, I have been there myself, and was also hospitalized. I had never been depressed (other than the blue's, there IS a difference), until last year, had a breakdown and spent a week in the hospital. My life is normal, low stress, and Kirsten is right, it can effect anyone and it is brutal.
I wish her well, have always been a fan.
I went to Cirque for depression, and then to another rehab for the same. Rehabs, unlike psych wards, don't treat you like you're crazy so it's a very effective place to go. Common misconception.

It is very common for the rehab facilitys/hospitals to also have a psych ward. Both illnesses are treated by psychiatrist and psychologist. Often the two diseases do indeed overlap but that doesn't have to be the case here. As a matter of fact (and you can google this if you like) the hospital that Steven Tyler is in, Las Encinas, Pasadena, CA also is a dual facility and has been for many years. Cedars Sinai has Thalians which treats both mental illness and substance abuse. UCLA has a psych ward that has a drug treatment program in the same ward. Century City Hospital, CMC, Freeman Centinela, Marina del Rey, Brotman, St. Marys in Long Beach, etc. etc. Just an FYI.

Drug/alcohol abuse is induced by depression, so that part is probably true. I doubt that she would go there though if she was just depressed, plus ii is well known that she is fond of drinking and smoking pot. Whatever she is/was battling, we should commend her for getting help and not letting it take her life away.
