Last month we showed you Scarlett Johansson's debut music video for her first, and hopefully last, real song, Falling Down.
Then, earlier this month, she performed the single, LIVE.
Big mistake.
But, luckily for everyone, her record label won't be sending ScarJo on tour anytime soon.
The label has said that her singing is "purely a hobby." She won't be hitting the road in support of her new album.
Apparently, she was asked to record a cover album of Tom Waits Song.
In response, she said in a recent interview, "I thought of all of my friends who were struggling musicians (who) would kill for this opportunity, so I couldn't really pass it up."
Let's hope there won't be any more music in the future!

Tom Waits has a unique voice, too. I'm impressed with her cover. The song is meant to be performed in a milky, raspy way.
I actually can't get enough of this album. If you're uneducated about music and think Mariah is the end all be all then you have no taste and can't be taken seriously when giving your opinion. I mean come on even David Bowie collaborated on it….doesnt that say something?

this is really sad. everyone gives her shit about her record but have any of you really listened to it? have any of you even heard of tom waits? the whole record is a concept album of her covering tom waits songs! EVERY SONG ON THE ALBUM WAS A COVER EXCEPT FOR ONE. if you are a fan of tom waits and know good music, then you will actually enjoy the album. take your heads out of your asses and pay attention

I really liked her Sessions version of "Falling Down." I'm pretty sure if she were simply a new singer and not ScarJo, that song would be a critical hit. I think it's different and that it suits Tom Waits' style very well. I would buy that album. It reminds me of people like Patti Smith and Bob Dylan. Think of it this way: she could have gone the LiLo route. And who needs more shiteous, over-manufactured, tired pop?
She is a bad actress and has little singing ability. She is not a musician and a lousy actress.

I have to agree with the folks who liked SJ's work on this album. You do a service by pushing artists on this site, Perez, but surely you must recognize that the music you like is not for everyone. Sure, Scarlett may not have the BEST voice… but her interpretation of the song is gorgeous. I do like her voice becuase its so different and the expression of emotion in the lyrics is spot on.
She sounded great live too… which is more than I can say for some people i.e. the video you posted of Rhianna singing Hero. Remind me again why that girl is famous?

Thank gawd she doesn't sound like all the produced flash in the pans that are all trying to sound like each other. She should put out another album. It's got an awesome psychedelic sound…it's very Velvet Underground meets Mazzy Star. LOVE IT!!!
Expand your boundaries people. Not all great music is layered with production effects to make them sound perfect.

To the people ,who say that scarjo's voice is good, what kind of music do you listen too! Please spare us perezito's site was not the only one to trash her voice. The reason why she decided to say that it's now a hobby is because there is no way in hell that anyone in their right mind would even consider buying her album or see this woman in concert, only her stupid die hard fans would be stupid enough to support her. This actress is so overated, i have yet to see her in a really good acting role, why they even consider her for an oscar is beyond me. She ain't that good lookng either. I find her rather strange looking.
The album is horrific. Different voice does not equate to good. Go listen to Beth Orton, Beth Gibbons, Tracey Thorn or Roisin Murphy for distinctively good voices.

Mainstream America wants typical music with NO EDGE. I like the live version of Falling Down even more than the recorded one that I loved hearing.
She should take it as a compliment that she has a different sound that will never be pumped out of shopping malls or grocery stores to lull drones of people into buying more stuff to fill their lives with!!!
I'm an artist and LOVE her singing! There is a sound threaded throughout this song that reminds me of monastic chants.
Different levels, that's all, just not on same wave length as masses who throng together ,swaying to the usual sounds on radio.

Scarlett's voice harks back to greats such as Nico, people with talent and originality, of which Americans are lacking so much recently they have to hijack the UK for it.
