Actor Willie Garson, who plays Stanford Blatch on Sex and the City, is going to be a daddy!
Willie revealed the exciting news to E! on the Sex and the City red carpet Tuesday night.
His adoption of a little boy from Los Angeles County is in the final stages.
Willie is already a proud daddy. He told Giuliana, "My kid's going to be the coolest."
Yay! Babies make the world a better place!

I'm happy to hear about a celebrity adopting a child from INSIDE THE USA. There are plenty of children going through the adoption system here in the states, more celebrities need to focus on children here rather than in other countries.

RE: Kriste- What a typical, ignorant American. International adoptions are more prevelant because (GASP!) other countries have orphans feeling the pain epidemics and their children are dying. Yes, DYING! Although many children is the US are in need of quality homes, there is enough (barely) federal aid to support relief and foster care. But travel to the Ukraine or Liberia and then talk about the need to adopt in the US. Its not fucking economy driven, get over this notion that you should adopt domestically. What are you some kind of backwoods civil war enthusiast?
I am getting my MSW and plan to work with gay couples to adopt- Get used to it, they make better parents than most of the white-trash, high school dropouts on this website…Also, who are all the straight dudes on a gay man's pop culture website that act like homophobes? What a lucky break whoever he decided to adopt will get. And what a gift adoption is to those who are fortunate enough to be in a postion to participate.
Many people cannot afford adoption and are put through a barrage of bureaucracy through family services by power tripping social workers. I would go as far as to say that if you are gay and wealthy you would be put right through. The social workers would rather let kids sit in group homes and foster homes because it justifies there jobs. Many foster parents are only in it for the money. The kids know it and are treated differently. No permanent bond is created. The system needs to change.
My point is that the tree hugging self serving social workers would really think twice about declining a gay parent adoption because they would not want the flack.
They do however make many other candidates wait and jump through hoops for lengthy periods of time until they give up. Many infertile couples who couldn't have their own children.
They will basically put kids into any foster home that will have them in a crunch but if there is a great parent who wishes to adopt a child and take them out of the system …well then ….be prepared. A little bit of power is a dangerous thing for these self absorbed self claimed do gooders.
The majority of tax dollars goes to the foster care portion with a small amount going to the adoption portion.
People who work within the system will tell you that this causes social workers in the adoption section to be unable to facilitate the adoption process in any kind of fashion that would facilitate the numbers of children in foster care. The system is backed up because of this.
THE SYSTEM NEEDS TO CHANGE. The government would rather write cheques to foster parents than reorganize the system and start getting life parents for these children.
Many foster children when they get to an age where the government stops sending cheques to the foster parents end up on their own.
The foster parents need the income generated from fostering children. Interesting that the social services doesn't seem to care about foster parents income ….only if you are going to adopt the child.
Hopefully if Hilary gets in she can make some inroads re this.

I agree with commenter #7, as I was thinking the same exact thing. China is NOT the only place in need of loving adoptive parents. There are a surplus of american babies and children waiting to be adopted.

Adoption of healthy newborn Americans is not difficult and expensive because of SOCIAL WORKERS for gods sake. It is difficult and expensive because there are more people who want them then there are babies available.
There is no waiting list or high cost for non-newborn children in foster care, children of color, sibling pairs or groups, or children with disabilities.
But healthy white newborns? Be prepared to open your wallet and wait.

It warms the heart. Stanford Blatch will be the best dad in the U.S.! Also, Kriste's comment is well-taken: there are also kids in the U.S. who need loving parents as much as those in other countries. Just because a child is already in the U.S. does not automatically mean that s/he needs family-love less than a child elsewhere.

I am astonished at some of the comments. I am an adoptions social worker here in California. 50% of the families I work with are single or are gay/lesbian couples who are adopting. The other 50% are couples who have experienced infertility or would like to adopt a child from the foster care system who needs a home. There aren't enough families out there to adopt children from the foster care system, which it is so refreshing to see that he is adopting from LA, which has the most kids in foster care in our nation. And no, social workers do not want to have kids remain in group homes….being in a family is what helps kids thrive. The ignorance of some of you is sickening. Congrats to Willie!
