Sex Premiere Turns Ugly!

satc.jpg

Leave it to the downsized film studio, New Line, to eff things up!

2,000 invitees to the Radio City Music Hall premiere of Sex and the City on Tuesdat night were turned away from the big event, despite having tickets!

Radio City seats 6,000.

However, 8,000 invites were issued.

The organizers did point out that seats were on a "first come, first-serve basis."

But, still! That sucks!

They didn't need to overbook the venue by THAT MUCH!

They sold $2,000.000 in tickets during the premiere. That's why they overbooked it. I mean, I love SATC, but come on, that is not right!!!

AAHHHH Whats especially annoying is that crew members such as myself got shafted from the premiere and the party. we get our own little screening tonight at the union square theater…but no, not the big show. that movie owned our lives and this is it? soo not worth it.

Okay, now THAT is ridiculous. To turn away THAT many people to see such a lame movie. They should have been grateful and figured out something else. Nothing like spurning your fans, geniuses.

Oh, okay. Now Perez is judging Radio City, in a desperate attempt to make this movie have some semblance of negativity. What a joke. Perez is desperate for news and he's losing it. He's so super critical and negative. He must be miserable to want to spin everything so badly. Ask yourself why you like coming here. To escape? Well that's just what we need. Escapism. There are huge problems in the world. Do something! Anything! But reading this garbage is making kids think negatively and worse, they think that it's okay to be so hateful, heartless and insensitive. Perez is a master manipulator. Don't let this happen to you!

Let me point out that this happens at every movie premiere — those first come first serve tickets are for "filler" seats, and they are always WAY overbooked. It just so happens that people REALLY wanted to see this movie so everyone showed up. Also, each person who was turned away got a coupon to see the movie for free. Its impossible to accomodate all of those thousands (they only seated people in the orchestra) and still start the movie on time.

"The organizers did point out that seats were on a "first come, first-serve basis."

I believe there was a reason the organizers pointed out the seats were first come, first serve. Quite whinning Perez, just because you didn't get it.

Re: moose – That is actually not true. My sister went to the premiere and was turned away. She waited on a line for hours, and so they promised her a free movie pass. That was the only reason she kept waiting longer. However, then they announced that they ran out of passes, and so she left with nothing.

    27. Obsess says – reply to this

      27

Did anyone read about that retard that paid $19,000 for tickets to some bogus premiere and that they felt bad for her and gave her tickets to the Radio City premiere which she probably didnt even get into !! lol ..I mean it's a good show but come the fuck on people ..All this for a crappy movie ??

    28. Yoli says – reply to this

      28

They did not give out "coupons" for the movie. They told us to go home and that was it. It was ridiculous for them to overbook by that many people. Some people I spoke to were in line at least 3 hours in advance and went home empty handed.

    29. sopret says – reply to this

      29

The movie is not crappy — it is AMAZING. I waited in line for 4 hours and got a pass to see it at the Directors Guild Theater on 57th Street. They only let about 45 people into Radio City and the peeps behind them got passes to screen the movie at other theaters around town. I have to say it was worth the wait. I was about 100th in a line of thousands.

Be glad you can walk to stand in a damn line! Whiny, whiny babies in this entitlement generation, but i do think it's due to websites like this one, where your mind is programmed to view everything negatively.

So I was there and the 2000 people were the folks that werent press or celebs. So they only took the first 45 normal people. 45 out of 2000. I hate new line

      33

ok I was at the premiere—-waiting in line since 10 am—had the tickets from a promo…they made us wait on a line on 50th st between 5th an 6th and the red carpet was on 51st so we did not get to see the "pink" carpet and they wouldnt even let us in to the premiere!!!! WHAT A CROCK!!! I was number 40 on the line and didn't get in–supposedly no one who waited with "tickets" were allowed to—soo first come first serve—NOOOOO way—

anyway they gave us tickets to see the premiere at a theater on 57th st–gave us NOTHING to eat—and we were not allowed to exit the theater once we got in—so we sat there for an hour and 15 minutes before the movie started—then it was a 2 and a half hour movie—plus I had been waiting in line since 10 am!!!

      THE MOVIE iS AWFUL!!!!

if you want the perfect review of the movie please read the posts…..HITS THE NAIL ON THE HEAD

      34

Overbooking by that much only means that they weren't secure enough that all the ticketholders would show. How lame for them if they had open seats and had to pick people off the street. What they should do now is grant SOMETHING to the remaining ticket holders.

I was one of those lovely people who was turned away. my friend and i were 50th on line and only the first 10 people got in! However, they comped us with tickets to see another premiere of the movie 5 blocks away..so we walked down and saw it there. afterwards, we stood outside Radio City and actually watched the stars walk out! Mr Big talked to us! He was great!!!

ITS TRUE!!!!! My friend and I had the "first come first serve" tickets and left work early to get a spot in line, we were there by 430 and the line was already around the block at Rock Center - the tickets said to get there by 6!! We tried to go to the red carpet but it was a complete mad house, SUCH a bummer, clearly no need to overbook the venue by the much!!!! :(

Same thing happened to my best friend and I out here in AZ. We got tickets to an advanced showing, waited in line for 2 hours, and then got turned away! Turns out they overbooked by about 100 people…now I can understand overbooking slightly, but I wished they just would have told us we weren't getting in before we waited 2 hours!

I sat on that line for over two hours waiting. It turned ugly. After they finally told everyone that they couldn't come into the theater, they decided to issue voucher's for everyone to see the movie when it came out. That was a joke! They told us "oh they're gone!" like we were the crazies. Best part, it poured on all of us about 20 minutes later.

    53. Sillar says – reply to this

I work at a movie theater. People who have free screenings and such hand out some 20% or more passes then seats assuming that some percentage of people with passes will not show up. They would rather have a full house than an empty one.
