According to the new Soundscan singles chart, Summertime has dropped out of the top 50 selling songs.

To date, NKOTB's Summertime has sold a pathetic sad 62,000 downloads.

Have to say, I'm pretty cheesed about the concert, a few friends and I were going to go to the concert up here in Toronto, but the cheapest tickets are $140, no thanks, I don't want to live down memory lane for $200 for decent seats. Thanks.

My wife has bought tickets so far to 3 or 4 shows. We have an entire closet filled with new kids on the block stuff. As a matter of fact there is a bed in this room I use as an office with a NKOTB comforter on it. Its enough to drive me insane but ah well I guess I can handle a wife with a New Kids obsession. Plus Donnie is a great actor and so is his brother.
That's too bad. They were once a great band but really what were they expecting? They are no longer boys and have been out of this market for sooo long. Maybe they'd have better luck if they re-invented themselves and re-marketed that new image instead. Best of luck to them all!!

The reunion will probably be a lot of fun, but honestly, with the song, I think they're trying too hard to sound like what's current on the radio… the instrumentals almost sound like a demo that Jesse McCartney passed over… perhaps they should have tried something a little more mature…

I live in New England (I split my year between Rhode Island and southern New Hampshire, specifically), and I definitely feel like I head the new NKOTB single a lot on pop radio, whether I'm at home in RI or school in NH. Maybe it's because they're Boston boys, so the local stations want to show support, but I guess it hasn't caught on across the country. That's too bad, because I actually love this song! I never listened to New Kids before, but I think it's a really fun summer anthem. Hopefully things will look up for the Kids

Wow, some people honestly don't know what they are talking about. I don't know about where Summertime is on some stupid list..there are too many to keep track of and mean very little to me, other than the Billboard Hot List. Blah Blah Blah. Here are the facts though, their tour is selling great, some of the shows have sold out in a matter of minutes! The song is being played despite what you say Perez. I hear it all the time here in Cleveland as well and I have been keeping up with what stations are playing it all over the country. And the stations that aren't, aren't playing it because of biased opinions such as yours. Believe me, it's being requested like mad. They have many many many fans out here that adore the guys and we are truly excited about this reunion. In my opinion it couldn't have happened at a better time. They are ready for it at this point of their lives and that is the part that matters. Why don't you just shut your pie hole and give some accurate news!

Well what the hell do you expect when they don't have any video out for their new song? Not to mention virtually no more public appearances after the Today Show and those two concerts they were at. I heard of some fans buying the song multiple times to boost up the sales. Why?? I wouldn't do that, they have enough money as it is damned if I'm going to give them more. I think you've hit the nail exactly on its head. Don't get me wrong, I expect better of the group. They were out of tune at all of their appearances and had crappy sound and a poor live band. If you're going to hit the stage don't do it with a medley that is way off and two other songs. Practice your behind off for several months then launch your tour and first appearance. The posters here on this board as well as NKOTB.COM are indeed tone deaf and always paint a rosy picture because they refuse to see the truth.
I'm hoping they get better and fast for their first two dates in Toronto. They've got a lot of work to do. I suggest they all get dance and voice lessons to take them back to their '80s and early '90s selves.

Radio is a terrible business right now. Radio heads are picking what they want their dj's to play, instead of the public choosing. And sadly, billboard hot 100 has so much weight on what rdio is playing them, that is radio isnt playing a song, it has to sell an AMAZING amount of dl's to chart. Ask Madonna about this perez—she had JT on her song so radio played it. if she didnt have him, they wouldnt have touched it like they havent played anythng from her in years.

I'd hardly call that a failure considering there are a bunch of fans waiting for the CD to come out in the stores so they can buy a tangible CD. However, I'm not too sure that your negative articles in the past & other unnecessarily negative articles I have read have not contributed to the so-called "stalling" so maybe, it's partially your fault and you should be responsible enough to take some blame in this. If you had done your research duty as a reporter, you would know what "Summertime" is really about, and it's definitely not about them lusting after teenage girls, as most of your moronic & ill-informed commenters seem to think.

The problem with NKOTB and this reunion and upcoming album/tour is that they know their old fans will buy into it but have no idea what to do when it comes to a new sound and being relevant to radio and non-fans. So, far I'm not totally impressed but what I've seen. If I weren't a fan I wouldn't have bought a concert ticket. For those who are disappointed by their recent performances give it time but be glad you paid $75.00 rather than more. They really have to deliver and haven't done it yet even with a single that's #57 on Billboard.
I can't believe how anyone would pay $375 for ANY band let alone NKOTB to spend 5 minutes with them and get a picture plus a floor seat for their show. I don't understand that. I wouldn't do it for anyone at all no matter how much I like them. I also think fans should act their ages instead of spending 3 days camping out for the Today Show and buying tickets to multiple shows they can't afford all around the U.S. and Canada. That ain't normal behavior for 30-year-old people.
Just an addendum. They should have led with Click, Click, Click as their first single rather than Summertime which was the original plan. That song is infinitely better than Summertime. It should do well at radio. Yes, the group has sold out some shows but it's not like their heyday where the whole tour would sell out. many suspect they'll do this album and tour as their last before shutting the door on that again and resuming other careers.

I don't know about the rest of the country, but I didn't even know that they had a single out yet. It definitely hasn't been released in the Detroit area, and it took me a little while to find it online. I am impressed by it, not just because I grew up loving these guys, but because they could have done so much worse. Most people think they're a joke, but I know at least 15 fun-loving girls in their 20s who will be joining me at the concert in October. I can't wait!
Yep - tickets to the reunion show at the Borgata in Atlantic City sold out in like 30 minutes so , unfortunately I will not be reliving my preteen years with NKOTB! Saved me $125 a ticket though!

I don't think they knew the fans were going to still be there after all these years. The expression on their faces at The Today Show (off camera) were glances of genuine & pure shock. Some said they saw Jordan mouth the word "Wow" when they were in the middle of the crowd on The Today Show. They have made efforts to communicate with the fans & have let us know how much they appreciate our love & dedication. It's okay if you don't understand what the big deal is. I can't speak for everyone but for me, their music & influence came into my life at a very critical time. They caused me to stay in school, stay off drugs, & stand up for myself. I could never turn my back on a band that made me the strong & independent person I am today. And really, what is "normal behavior?" The fact that these folks went out there told me that this was a fun group of people. I'm 31 and I have to say, out of all my friends who are the same age as me, they admire the fact that I am living my life to the fullest because it's fun! I'd "act my age" but then, I would never have gotten to meet Jonathan Knight, who was sweet enough to come out at 3 AM to visit the early birds at the Today Show to make sure we were okay. Who ever heard of a band that would do such a thing? Seriously, isn't it ridiculous that they actually CARE about the fans? Time with them is absolutely priceless.
