Scarlett Johansson should stick to making movies and wearing pretty clothes for designers.

Her foray into the music world was a bust!

ScarJo's collection of Tom Waits covers, Anywhere I Lay My Head, has debuted on the U.S. album charts at #126.

It only sold 5,100 copies sold its first week out.

Ouch!

      Forgive me, but I LIKED the album. And no, I'm not an obsessive ScarJo fan or anything. I'm a Tom Waits fan and a huge fan of TV on the Radio whose guitarist produced the record. Good singers don't always make good music and bad singers don't always make bad music. In this case, the bad singer made a great album.

The album isn't bad and her voice is more appealing than the theatrics you hear on American Idol. She took an artistic risk and got creative. Not everyone is so starved for attention and money that they consider it a failure if they don't debut at #1.

      Secondly, she only did the album because she was asked to. She has some friends who are struggling musicians and thought passing up the opportunity would have seemed ungrateful and stupid. She doesn't really care about selling records. Not everyone in this industry, and I know that's hard to believe, does everything for money. Some do it because they love it.

      You can't judge someone for taking a chance and to be honest everyone is just afraid to say they like it because she's an actor. She does a fucking great job! Tom Waits has to be the hardest musician to cover and she does a damn good job. So give her a break.

      Perez. I think you should consider the fact that not all acts of creation (especially real ones) are executed to be number one or to rake in the money. Scarlett doesn't need either of those things, and I would say her venture in music was successful. She has a beautiful voice, it's simply not mainstream. Mostly because it's not edited beyond repair. The most talented people in the world are generally the most unrecognized. Mariah Carey doesn't have a lick of admirable talent. I love Scarlett's music. Just because the majority of not-so-smart America didn't rush out and buy it, doesn't mean she failed in any way.

      I like the reason she gave for doing it. That she was asked to do an album of Tom Wates covers and her musician friends would have loved the opportunity and she understood how lucky she was. That's all cool with me and probably means she will stick to acting. Love her but yeah I wasn't into her music much.       I like her music. It makes me think of sitting at a little round table and watching someone sing in a small, intimate club in the city. The funny thing is I dont believe Scarlett cares what people think of it. It was more of a personal thing for her. Scarlett is an extremely versatile and talented actress. I love her woody allen flicks. I am looking forward to the new one since it was filmed in Spain. It is gonna be great. Plus it has Penelope in it too. She is gorgeous like Scarlett.
