Old hasbeen model Lauren Hutton attacked Sex And The City's portrayal of promiscuous women AND blamed "gay writers" for creating the stereotype that single women are "sluts" on the Today Show Thursday!

SATC was based on writings by Candace Bushnell — a woman!!
AND, Hutton confessed she had never seen an episode of SATC but claimed it promoted the untrue myth that it's natural for women to be sexually promiscuous.
Lauren said, "It's written by guys, who happen to be gay, who are sluts. That's what I think. Let's face it most men are sluts. That's what testosterone is supposed to do. As a hunter, if you stayed alive after 30, nature wanted your genes out there. Women were just trying to get the best sperm to make a masterpiece. She is merely commenting on the fact that a number of patriarchal ideas of women are perpetuated and celebrated on SATC (which was initially written by a women but the show was primarily written by 2 gay men).

Uh, the show is written by mostly men. It was criticized for years that the show was basically Queer As Folk with less overt sex. That's what happens when you have 30 minutes instead of an hour. Lauren isn't saying anything too new or interesting.

some research actually suggests that (evolutionarily-speaking), it is also of benefit for women to sleep with as many men that have the qualities she desires as she wants. sperm competition in the vagina allows the "strongest" sperm to survive and reach the egg. so…if a women wants the "perfect" baby, it could be suggested that she screw multiple men who meet her qualifications, so the "best" sperm will fertilize the egg. so…sluttiness may be evolutionarily beneficial to women as well as men.

I think what she is saying, for the most part, is true. Gay men do have a very casual, sexualized way, and when they project that onto women, it doesn't go over well.
