Sequel alert!

Eddie Murphy is coming back as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop 4, according to new reports.

Rush Hour director Brett Ratner is reportedly in negotiations to direct.

Paramount hopes to have the film in production next year and in cinemas in the summer of 2010.

This is actually a sequel that we're willing to embrace.

Hope Eddie let's his funny fly, like he did in the old days, with the Foley role.

cant anyone think of a new movie to come out with? Im getting sick of sequels, tv and book adaptations for movies. Just write something original and be happy that it does well instead of milking it for everything its worth which, in some cases, isn't very much..

I've lost my faith on Murphy. He's become a boring and intolerable a–hole, or probably started to his true self. All his movies in the last 6+ years have been disasters and taste-less. His constant picking and ridiculing overweight people is a bit disappointing. So, it'd take a miracle for Murphy to come out of this hole he's dug for himself.

Let's hope after that he plays only 1 role in this film. I tire of the Eddie Murphy makeup multiple character routines.

I guess enough time has passed so that people could forget that BHC 3 was not funny.

This has been an open door sequel opportunity for DECADES but no script has come in that was "right" according to Murphy and the different producers over the years. Me thinks it was actually a situation of wanting to see other movies with long standing sequels — come BACK after a decade or two. Not sure what they were waiting for but perhaps now they could have Axel run into Dirty Harry Callahan or John McClane. Timing is right for Murphy. Let's hope he can pull it off.

Okay… the first two in this series were good and funny. The 3rd one was terrible. I bet you don't even remember that there was a third one. You should rent it/pick it up/put it on your netflix/whatever — it was a bad bad bad — and I think the pain of sitting through this film should be shared… and then we should all start writing letters to Eddie and Brett telling them to knock it off and come up with something original.

oh, oh I know maybe Axel could drive around LA and pickup a tranny hooker and then tell the cops he was just saving her from the rain on a dry night….oh, that's right Eddie already did that! ok, so maybe they could write it so that Axel has just been doing the same old schtick for over 25 years….oh, that's right Eddie's already been doing that.

Eddie the Tranny Loving Murphy" needs to STFU and stay gone. I used to love this guy, now I can't stand the sight of him. He abuses women, leaves them pregnant and abandons his children. He uses women to cover the fact he is part of the Hollywood "DOWN LO CLUB" which is a bunch of bi-sexual and in the closet gay black men in Hollywood who like to get together on the sly for gay sex. Eddie is interested in women for one reason, to cover his tracks so people don't know he is gay. He is a miserable bastard and a disgrace. Be proud Eddie or fuck off.

Yeah, but he was way funnier and way more edgey than he is now.. just hope they don't MESS IT UP.. but I'm always open to revisiting fav characters.. again, just don't MUCK IT UP!

Let me guess, the premise of Bev Hills Cop 4, Eddie Murphy plays all the parts of the entire police force in fat suits, white make-up, blah blah blah…no one cares about the cad. Eddie Murphy is to movies what Eddie Murphy is to women, don't expect much…..

      42

What the fuck are you talking about? Beverly Hills Cop was great. Cop II was good, but was mostly loud, over the top car chases and explosions, and Cop III sucked your fat ass. Why would you want another one when each film has gotten WORSE?!

    43. smarty says – reply to this

      43

Why bother? Eddie is so played out. Leave him to voice overs in Shrek.

    44. john says – reply to this

      44

To be honest, it sounds like Eddie desperately wanted the opportunity to make a hit movie. To redo BHC seems like a long shot, with all the old comebacks like Rambo, Indiana Jones etc. it looks like nobody can make a good contemporary movie.
I doubt it will work though. What started as a gimmick in Coming to America (Eddie playing multiple roles) has become a neccesity for the man who is so hated and so difficult to work with. He milked the multiple role concept in Dr. Doolittle, Nutty Professor, Pluto Nash and many others, because he cannot get any actor or actress of any importance to want to play in a movie with him. Eddie has gotten old and unfunny, I can't remember any of his movie the last 10 years that wasn't an atrocious flop.
So I wonder what Beverley Hills Cop will be like, Eddie playing Axel and the other guys as well ?
