Hundreds of angry British youth gathered outside the offices of the Daily Mail in London on Saturday to protest their negative characterizations of their favorite band, My Chemical Romance, and the paper's story that one Emo teen killed herself because of their music.

This is the protesters' story and their video from this weekend's rally!

I think it's really sad that people are still blaming music and musicians for why young people committ suicide. I guess it's an easy place to point the blame. Where were her family, teachers and friends? People show signs. There just needs to be someone there to recognize them and offer help. People ignoring the problem, doesn't make it go away.
I know MCR are awful but you can turn off the radio or put on a better CD. You don't have to kill yourself. Just put on better music.

are you people dense? i want you all who are saying things like "stupid emos" or "eww… goths" to look up the video to teenagers where at the end it says "VIOLENCE IS NOT THE ANSWER" with a suicide prevention number. on the contrary, my chemical romance does sometimes portray a dark beat, but if you listen to the world i consider them inspiring. the band saved my life, not ended it. Im sorry if someone decided to end their life, but that is not the band's fault in any way, shape or form. Yeah, I don't think this is the best video to address the subject, but most My Chemical Romance fans just let this story go. We know they don't advocate suicide–quite the opposite–and their music is uplifting to us. Also, anyone who would be such a devoted fan that they would kill themselves for MCR would already be aware that the members are about changing your life, not ending it, when things suck.

Yeah, honestly… MCR is my favorite band and I have blonde hair, wear pink and insert the word "like" in between every other word. I LOVE their music and even though I've never had any issues with depression, etc, I do believe their music helps people. I mean, if someone is contemplating suicide then… that's their own issue. I MADE THIS.

Its not a dig at emo kids at all. I found a new respect for them. Its great that they stand up for what they believe in. More people should. The full documentary film will show a fairer side. The trailer is only meant to be tongue in cheek as there is a SERIOUS message behind the whole thing.

The daily mail is such a pathetic paper that it's frankly embarassing to see them taking it so seriously. I'm proud of them for standing up for MCR. MCR always gives speeches about getting help if you are depressed and NOT committing suicide. The protest went amazingly well!
The point of the protest was to prove that most MCR fans don't wish to take their lives. My Chemical Romance are anti-violence. They express their sorrow over the death of Hannah Bond and encourage depressed teens to get help. They are NOT EMO. That's an insult to the band and rock music. CONGRATS to everyone who was at the protest. It was organized, peaceful, and a lot of fun.
