The film was the biggest debut by an R-rated, female-centric movie ever.
It took in $55.7 million in the U.S. this weekend.

I'm excited about this movie, but was a little wary about where they would go with it since the series did such a good job wrapping everything up. But come on, a sequel? Why can't the studios ever let something go at its peak? Why do they have to use and re-use something until its entertainment value is totally worthless. Damn you, greed!

Well as much as I loved this movie (seriously it was PERFECT!!!) I am worried about a sequel because so many great chick flicks have fantastic first films and TERRIBLE sequels!

I am an UBER fan but the film was dissapointing and kind of spoiled my love for it, plese just leave it alone!!
It already ruined the TV series, and the storyline would probably go something like - Big murders all of the girls and Carrie would just take him back and the last shot would be of her visiting him in prison in Monolo Blahniks with little accessorised ball chains, or something as equally ridiculous!!!!!
Big can do anything to Carrie and she just takes him back, like a dick!!!I love Carrie but I have to admit that I called her a dick on the way out of the cinema!

The series was one of the best on television. The movie did not live up to the series. SJP should do a Seinfeld and know how to go out with dignity, excellence, and without the endless pursuit of more dollars just because they can. That's what the TRUE fans of SATC deserve!!!
I saw the movie this weekend and was pleasantly surprised at how good it was! The only part I didn't like was all the freaking product placement and too much attention to the fashion. I don't care what they say, Pat Fields does not know fashion from shit! That wedding headdress Carrie wore was just awful! It is definitely a movie to buy when it comes out on DVD. And ps people–40 is so NOT OLD!

The movie was perfection, they should totally make a sequel!!! What happened to Standford's boyfriend Marcus? In the sequel Samantha and Smith should get married!!! Loved all the fashion and the purses, especially the louis vuitton Carrie gave Louis it was wild, and Samantha's chanel beach bag was HOT.. Loved the sushi scene on the table… The opening song with Fergie was genious, its my new fav, I bought the new Sex and the City cd with all the songs from the movie, labels or love by Fergie was the essence of SATC….. I hope the movie comes out on dvd by christmas!!

Not as excited about a squel. But the movie was Fab! I felt like four of my old friends had come back for a visit and it was wonderful! I saw lots of complaints and comments about boom mikes that were visible in the movie, but I didn't notice them, although I was so into the movie the boom mike could have been pink and in th middle of the shot and I wouldn't have noticed.
YAY!! I was very pleased with the final outcome of the movie. And for the sequel let's have Samantha get back together with Smith, Carrie and Big continue with the married life, Miranda…well umm…just be less uptight Miranda and Charlotte continue with the life of baby Rose. Then have all the ex's come into the picture and fuck it all up!!! The End!
P.S. I feel the $55.7 million is a littel less than I expected. I was hoping for a lot more after seeing all the sell out showtimes and ladies dragging their men. LoL

Movie was AWESOME! I cried and cried and laughed and cried. So, true to the characters and wow did Miranda ever look good! Only bad point - Hated Carrie's lipstick at the wedding. Made her look horribly terse and severe. No need for a sequel. there is nothing left to say.

Carrie ends up marrying Big at the end. Samantha dumps her boy-toy cause she's not getting sex. The red haired one breaks up with her husband because he cheated on her. And the other one, with the bald husband is still married and she has another kid in the movie. No one dies, as was "leaked".
I am soooooooooo HAPPY to hear that they are going to make a sequel! I would LOVE that! Anything SATC does is fine by me! The fashion was perfection and it was sooooooooo funny! One minute I would cry and then next I would laugh. The audience was so into it. SOLD OUT baby!

The picture of the 4 of them sure doesn't make them look like New Yorkers. It's LA all the way! I still can't figure out why the series didn't take place in California? I just can't relate to these women. I can more relate to the Desperate Housewives cast!
