The first ever Survivor winner, Richard Hatch, has successfully appealed his tax evasion conviction…..all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
That's quite an achievement…the U.S. Supreme Court takes up only a small number of the appeals it receives.
Hatch was convicted two years ago of failing to pay taxes on the $1 million prize he won on the debut season of the hit CBS reality series.
He was sentenced to more than four years in prison, where he's currently sitting pretty.
Hatch's lawyer has said his client confronted producers about cheating during taping of the show, and a producer promised his taxes would be paid if he kept quiet and went on to win the competition.
CBS claims Hatch's assertions have no merit.
We'll see what the Supreme Court Justices have to say!

The Supremes have not agreed to actually hear the case.
One can always appeal and request it, but the Supremes probably won't grant cert and his appeal will then die.

Hatch did NOT successfully appeal his case. He merely filed an appeal which will be TURNED DOWN because there is not Constitutional conflict involved. The Supremes will not hear He Said/He Said (except for Bush v. Gore of course)

NO ONE should have to pay taxes to the IRS because its nothing more then the enforcement arm of the Federal Reserve - a privately owned institution run by the British Crown, the Rothschilds, the Rockefellers, JP Morgan, the Warburgs and other elitist. They issue money to US citizens on a computer ledger AND charge interest for it, even though our treasury prints it up AND our congress could issue the money itself INTEREST FREE. Wake up people! Your comment is misleading. you said that he was succesful. However, in order to successful appeal the case to the supreme court you have to get the u.s. supreme court to rule in your favor. i don't know if you were just dumb and didn't know that or just didn't care.

You should have consulted Popsquire, a lawyer and pop culture expert. I would have told you that Richard Hatch's case is not actually before the US Supreme Court. Just because he filed an appeal does not mean that the Court will hear the case. In fact, they probably won't.

Somebody beat me to it. You don't have a clue, do you P? He is still in the joint. That means he did not "successfully appeal" his case. It only means that the Supremes will consider if the evidence was there, or there was something else legally wrong with the case. He has not, repeat, has not, and just in case you don't understand, HE HAS NOT successfully appealed.
Didn't Stacey Kimball make similar allegations about cheating and interfering by the producers on "Survivor" that season?
