Us Weekly is reporting that Jessica Simpson's father, dadager Joe Simpson, nearly ruined her relationship with Tony Romo.
He's apparently the reason for the couple's brief split in May.
Seems like Poppa Joe wanted to cas$h in on his daughter's impending engagement to the Dallas Cowboys Quarterback.
Dad had planned to sell the exclusive on the engagement news, and, as we all found out, things took a very sour turn!
According to the report, Tony has given Jessica a final ultimatum.
She needs to tell dad to back off or he's gone.
As for Joe, he says “It’s unfair to criticize me for what every manager does for his or her clients. And in this business, where people can quickly turn on you, who better than a parent to be working for his children?"
Riiiiiight.
Joe adds, "A parent will always be there for his kids and never give up on them. I work hard seven days a week for my girls because I love them. Why in the world would I ever want to do anything that would hurt my children?"

No privacy and/or stage moms and dads is one of the reasons why so many actors and actresses who have their mothers and/or fathers as their managers end up firing them (aka Usher). There is a time to be a manager and a time to be just a father. The intimate, personal relationships of your daughters, especially if there is an engagement/wedding involved, are not business deals and not to be "managed" for the end means of profitable gain (unless the couple sincerely wants that). While most mangers will advise their clients on the most appropriate way to handle relationships, in regards to their careers, there is a very fine line that managers shouldn't step over. If the gossip reports are true, Joe has done this and needs to back way off.
