Tatum O'Neal is just plain crazy!
But, at least she's pretending like she's trying to get help.
Just yesterday, after being released from jail for a drug bust over the weekend, Tatum attended an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.
And, like the good girl that she is, she was sure to let the media know where she was off to!
On her way out of her apartment, she said, "I'm doing very well. I'm going to an AA meeting. The whole thing is regrettable. What's good in what I did?"
And as if her past comments weren't funny enough, we've just learned that during the arrest Tatum told officers, "Today was the first time I was relapsing, but you guys saved me! Can you let me go?"
Delusional!
Forget Alcoholics Anonymous. Tatum needs to check into rehab now!

I really feel badly for Tatum. She has the shittiest parents and childhood. She has a life-long addition to crack I mean you just cant shake that crap as I am told. What is totally frustrating about this article is that it's called Alcoholics ANONYMOUS (as in you are not supposed to talk about it to the press or public.) So many "stars" abuse this and use AA as another status symbol to wear on their sleeve, or carry in their hands. It makes me sick and also makes me think that Tatum is not taking this too seriously. You have to wonder why her ex got full custody of their kids…I think she is conning everyone, which doesn't bode well for sobriety - sad…

Addiction is a serious disease just as any other. I believe it is in poor taste that you choose to make fun of a human being with a serious disease. Yes, Tatum made a mistake. Yes, she was arrested. What I don't understand is the need to chastize someone who admits they have a problem and is doing their very best to deal with something so private in a very public way. Perez, I really hope that you never have to deal with a family member or close friend with an addiction to drugs and alcohol. If you do have family or friends with this disease, I can only hope that you treat them with a little more candor and respect.

Mario, from someone else who is in recovery, I think Miss O'Neal is going through enough of a dark time without mean-spirited comments from people like you making it worse for her. It's a disease, and anyone in recovery is always susceptible to a relapse. No one is ever magically "cured" of alcoholism or addiction. It is a lifelong struggle.
But, on the other token, I'm with the other blogger who brought up the AA thing. It is ANONYMOUS. Not to be shared with the public. It bugs me too when celebs do that.
even if you go to rehab you often follow up with aa and whatnot… the recovery process is complicated and is best figured out by the addict herself, and left alone by the press. i know it's funny to make fun of 'kirsten drunkst' and shit like that, but please. these are people.

Losing an animal is devastating and it is interesting that you do not have any empathy in this area as much as you show your dog online. Each individual who struggles with addiction has to learn how to deal with their triggers and sometimes they come up when least expected. I do not think her reason is crazy and I don't think it is up to you to determine who should enter rehab. You think you are a god and I hate to break it to you but you are just a fame whore.

You know Perez - you really have no idea what addiction is all about. You think it is just a lazy moral dilema? So wrong. You are gay right? And overweight? How do you like it when people openly bash those two issues? I believe you are born gay, just like people are born predisposed with the disease of addiction. And overeating? Really little difference than addiction. Why don't you take a stand and actually educate yourself about addiction so maybe you can be a pioneer in supporting people getting the help they need? Not every addict is the trainwreck cliche you think. Most just suffer in silence, die, or try to keep their recovery a little more private. Rehab, which you constantly insist is the "answer" - to the point that seeking any sort of help is pointless, is not the end all be all answer in addiction. Someone who can go to meetings alone probably has a stronger chance of staying sober. Let's face it, rehab is used by celebrities as a way to "show" that they're getting help (Lohan) or "sorry" about some public indiscretion unrelated to drug or alcohol abuse (pick one, any one). STOP SAYING IT'S THE ONLY LEGITIMATE MEANS TO GET HELP!!! If you want to offer addiction advise first go take some fucking classes.

I can totally understand a woman who is battling addictions being tempted as she mourns her dog. If you have never loved a dog, then you won't get it, but — they are thinking, feeling, loving, animals, and it's like losing a family member. I wish Tatum the best and hope she finds a way to cope.
So…er…MEETINGS are generally what keep people sane and sober and not treatment. Rehab is generally for taking a break to sane up enough to get something out of meetings. If she didn't actually use, going to a whole helluva lot of fucking AA meetings is just what the doctor ordered. You REALLY do not know fuckall about recovery.
Perezel, actually AA has a higher success rate with those seeking recovery than treatment centers. Cruise on over to an Alcoholics Anonymous web site and read a copy of the prefaces for more information on this.
While going to a meeting is great especially for those who are on the verge of relapse–the sad truth is that Tatum is violating one of AA's traditions which states we should practice anonymity at the level of press, radio, tv & film. Why? Because when struggling in the grips of a deadly and progressive illness, there is no room to be a diva or to be separate from fellow alcoholics. Terminal uniqueness kills many an alcoholic.
The other very practical reason? When some addict or alcoholic on a bender starts pointing to AA as "the thing that will save me" and fails, the public mistakenly assumes AA is to blame, rather than the addict or alcoholic who cannot or will not practice the AA steps and principles in their entirety.
Self honesty is an important piece of this, and I'm not sure Tatum has found that yet. God help her on her path, and I hope she finds sober serenity soon.

Maybe she was telling the truth. Why else would she go to a homeless person to buy drugs. If you buy drugs on a regular basis, you usually have an established person who you trust who preferably delivers to avoid such an incident.
