We've Got Another Michael Lohan On Our Hands

Having a baby really does bring the family together!
Nicole Richie and Joel Madden's daughter, Harlow, have done just that.
The Simple Life alum has recently gotten closer to her birth mother and, now, her rocker beau has done the same with his dad!
Joel and his twin brother Benji Madden had not spoken to their father, Roger Combs, for over 10 years - since he walked out on the family.
Roger, who's a recovering alcoholic, left his fam when Benji & Joel were high school freshman. He later returned to only leave again for good, this time on Christmas Eve when the two were 16.
Ever since then, the two have changed their last name to their mother's maiden name, Madden, and haven't spoken to their dad since.
That is until the birth of Harlow.
Ever since her birth back in January, Roger says he began receiving text messages from his sons.
AND, now he's ’bout to be fucking things up by talking to the media about it!
Recently, after a Good Charlotte concert in New Jersey, Joel, Nicole, Benji and baby Harlow drove to Bowie, MD to visit Roger.
After holding his granddaughter for the first time, Roger tells In Touch Weekly, "It was a wonderful moment. She's such a beautiful girl. I felt very proud."
And as for Nicole, Roger says he feels she's already part of the family, telling the mag, "She's the sweetest girl anyone in their life could want as a daughter. Nicole's such a loving person and she has a great sense of humor. I've told Joel, 'Don't let this one get away. This one is a keeper for you, son.'"
And Roger says Nicole feels the same way.
He adds, "I was talking to Joel on the phone one day, and she grabbed the phone from him and said, 'Let me talk to him now. I want to talk to my dad.'"
And, taking a page from the Michael Lohan book of parenting and talking to the media, Roger continued talking.
He added about leaving his family behind that "My kids were mad at me, and I don't blame them. We are good today, and that's all that matters."
We love it. Keep on yapping!
Next, he should tell us if Nicole and Joel be getting married soon? What are the details?

I think it's sweet that he is talking to his dad again. At least his dad didn't say anything bad about them, or the baby. And they are SO cute together!
i cant believe he would talk to his dad again. after he left his family and stopped talking to them all together. why would he want his dad involved in his current life when he is happy? that was a stupid move on his part.
as someone who has been a GC fan for years, this makes me sad. their dad did some really awful things to them… their first two albums were spent lamenting about it! if you ask me, anyone who walks out on their children doesn't deserve to be a part of their grandchildren's lives. i am all for forgiveness, but how can you forget!?

God, she is so lovely and elegant. Nicole Richie is the best style transformation of the decade. Day-um - perfect make up, perfect clothes, pretty movement (unlike stiff, lifeless Paris Hilton with her one pose).

My dad left when I was young, and I have never talked to him again. I will never forgive him, and why should I? He is nothing but a sperm donor. He was a deadbeat dad, and always will be to me. I think this guy is only coming back into their lives because he needs someone to take care of him, and they have $$$$. Bastard.

i dont think the father said anything that was harmful to Joel, Nicole, or Harlow. I think its GREAT that they are working things out. You only have one father, and as long as they are still alive you should try to be in their life, and them in yours.

Well, lets hope not. I find it so sad and depressing when Parents are so messed up psychologically that their children have to live out the rest of their lives in some sort of pain, because the parents were never able to get their shit together and clean up their life — I clearly don't think that you have to be perfect, but when you have children, you have to at least, the very least, be civil and peaceful to the family unit that you created in the first place by having children to start with.

I really hope that they know what they are doing. After all the pain and heartbreak their father put them through it's shocking that they have the heart to talk to him after all these years. It's great that Joel and Nicole want Harlow to know her grandfather, but I really really hope that Benji and Joel's father doesn't fuck them over again. If they are going to let him back into their lives they bettter be careful. I hope their father doesn't turn out to be another Michael Lohan/ Joe Simpson…that would be absolutly heartbreaking

Why does everyone think it is okay for people to have babies when they aren't married? Does anyone know what the word "bastard" means? Why don'tthese people get married before they have children? What a beautiful photo of a beautiful family! Nicole seems to have really matured (and I don't know so much about Joel - but since he was with Hillary Duff, and she is so grounded, he must be a quality guy).
My favorite "Nicole" style is when she dresses "classic", Grace Kelley-ish - as in this photo. It is by far her best look - and she totally pulls it off! She looks beautiful when she's put together in this way! Joel, too, looks perfect when he's "cleaned up" in his suit — looks like they're trying to be parents precious Harlow can be proud of! Good for them!!! (I'll bet Nicole wouldn't be so silly and inappropriate with kids now, as she was on "Simple Life" — now she has the heart and sensibilities of a mom…)

First off, their Dad did NOT just come back into their lives. They started talking to him again a couple of years ago, before anything with Harlow ever happened.
Secondly, if in fact he WERE to be doing it for money, don't you think he would have done it in 2002/03? When The Young and the Hopeless was crazy popular? Seriously. Even the twins' have said he's not a bad guy, he's just done some bad things. He wouldn't just barge in and steal attention and money. Have some sense, people.
