Goin' For Broke

evander.jpg

Looks like former heavyweight boxing champion and Dancing with the Starts contestant Evander Holyfield is on his way to the poor house!

Money comes and…

Money goes!

According to reports, his Georgia estate is under foreclosure.

The home worth an estimated $10 million is set to be auctioned by a bank on July 1.

One of his babymommas also claims that he's missed two child support payments ($6K).

The boxer has reportedly declined to comment on the child-support allegations and the foreclosure.

Sad.

Holyfield made multimillions in the ring and some bucks on the ABC show.

Is he a victim of the economic downturn or money mismanagement?

Good luck sorting this shiz out, E!

I waited on him at Houston's in Atlanta a couple of times. He would come in, demand to be seated immediately, and then proceed to order a whole bunch of food (always ate ribs) and then would tip me 10% of the bill EVERY TIME. I was a really good waitress and always got huge tips because of my service so this bitch is just CHEAP. What goes around, comes around.

Mr. Holyfield should have known that a boxer's career is not a long one. He should not have bought a $10 million dollar estate. The taxes on that alone would be crippling. And of course he ought to have figured in the costs of child support. People must learn to live within their means. Sad, yes, but preventable.

Don't feel bad for this douche-bag. I met him about 8 years ago and he was a TOTAL ASSHOLE. I hated the guy. So now that he's poor… HA HA! Serves him right. Just shows you: what goes around, comes around. Always. I hope he enjoys being a broke, loser, has-been. Piece of shit.

This kind of thing always happens. A guy like Holyfield was meant to be a garbage man, or a men's room attendand. Dumb idiots like Evander aren't capable of handling money. That's why losers like him always lose everything. Because they're at the bottom of the intelligence chain. Sure, just because he was strong (at one point) and could beat some people up, he lucked into money. But he was too stupid to keep it. Now, he's washed-up and broke, which is where he deserves to be

he lives really close to me, too, and since i don't know much about him, i'm inclined to feel bad. but i do have to admit, his estate is a bit out of place (right in front of OLM!? is that… normal?). and where did he get the money for that huge mansion and guest house? i didn't think he even made that much. maybe i was right… he just can't afford it. oh well!

  28. Bitchy says – reply to this

    28

Re: uhno – Sometimes its a stereotype for a reason. But if you want to make this about race, go ahead…but I think it has more to do with the fact that Houston's makes really good ribs and the restaurant was in Atlanta, Georiga.

I think his house is gorgeous & that's a shame to hear! BTW all that stuff that's by his house wasn't by it when it was first built there used to be nothing across the street.

Are we supposed to feel sorry for this guy or Ed McMahon? Don't buy
"estates" if you can't afford it. I live in a dumpy little 1800 sq. ft. house
and consider my self lucky. It's called LIVING WITHIN YOUR MEANS -
    these guys should try it.

    wow,
the foreclosure thing is affecting everyone, even the rich!!!

  34. 34

he doesn't seem to smart. so i'll go with money mismanagement. if this is the same house that i saw on TV a few years back, then i'm not surprised. that place was huge. and i think he has A LOT of kids.

  35. wawawa says – reply to this

    35

He has 9 kids by a bunch of women, he admits his problem was no prenup but his real problem was getting one lady preggers while she lived in one part of the mansion while his wife was preggers in the other part of the house. He admitted in 1998 that in one year his wife and 2 other ladies had his baby.

  36. lisa says – reply to this

    36

well, he does have like 30 kids. mandatory child support will eat at those financials quite rapidly.

    38

Anyone from the Atlanta area who is familiar with Mr Holifield will know that he has been giving his money away to Rev. Dollar (yes that is his name) for years. Pull up his divorce records and you will see where his ex was complaining to the court about this when they were going trough thier divorce.

Actually, I've heard he's a super-nice guy but he does spend A LOT of money. I have two cousins that used to live right near him and they were really good friends with a couple of his children. They used to carpool to school and whenever my cousins were taken by the Holyfield's, their nanny drove them - in her Jaguar. The nanny had a damn Jaguar!
I think this is pretty sad, but I guess not really that surprising.

    44

Man, it's so funny. These blacks just haven't got a clue about money or how to manage it. All they know is how to brang and show off when they get some $. But the laughable thing is that they ALL buy depreciating assets, ie they go down in value year after year.

I always smile when I hear or see a rapper go on about his $300 bracelet. Give 5-10 years time son and you'll be back in the projects from whence you came…………

I live about five minutes away from his home, and I am not surprised that he can't afford it any more. The upkeep on the house must cost a small fortune, and lately it's been looking like it's falling apart.

I also lived in Fayette County for a long time. His older home on the property was once the home of Burt Reynolds. He had the new home built and it fit in well with the communnity. We begged him so many times to buy the property across the street so they won't build a school there. But he's just cheap, his son played on my basketball team. When it was his turn to bring drinks and chips after the game, he was nowhere to be found. It is widly known he is cheap, but the crazy FAKE Doctor Janice stole like $20 mil from in a divorce settlement. I feel bad for him, I know he's not broke, it'll probably be best for him to sell the house, acquire the money and move on some where.
