Alanis Explains Her Humps!!!!

She has never talked about it before….
Until now!
Alanis Morissette caused an Internet sensation when she decided to do a stripped-down, piano-only version of the Black Eyed Peas' My Humps.
And, she even made a hilarious video for it, which has now been seen on YouTube by almost 15 million people.
When the song and video first hit the Net, Alanis was hounded for interviews about it but she refused to discuss it.
She wanted to let it speak for itself and let us interpret it as we may.
Well, Miz Morissette is finally shedding some light into what lead her to make her lovely lady lumps homage.
The Canadian singer explains to the new issue of The Advocate:
There are 15 different interpretations, and they’re all true. Some of it is me not being precious at all. I was in the studio with Guy Sigsworth and he would say, “What horse from the apocalypse are you bringing in today, Alanis?” Because every song was this tsunami of emotions. So I said, “I wish I could just write a really simple song—a song like ‘My Humps.’ ” Then we had a pregnant pause, looked at each other, and said, “All right, let’s do it!” Within moments we were recording the piano version of it, and within a week we were shooting the video in my garage here at my house. However it’s been interpreted has been entertaining for me to watch.

What I like best about this video are the men. They're all middle-aged, fat, with cheap suits and wife-beater t-shirts. I love when the one guy raises his arms up over his head and you can see his big fat belly. Awesome! Cuz come on… those are the guys trying to touch your lumps at the club… in Jersey anyway!
I'm sorry but she totally just copied "My Dumps" by Peaches. THe song sounds exactly the same. If you're gonna be so unoriginal to cover a song, at least make it sound different from a different version already out there. UGH!

Friend of mine knew her in high school. She used to drive around in a convertible blasting her own music. Mixed feelings re her (as if she cares) - do like that she speaks in words with more than two syllables, which most singers can't seem to do. Don't like that she takes herself wayyyy too seriously. Reminds me of those college kids that go hiking through South America or Thailand on daddy's expense account then come back full of faux philosophy and hemp laced birkenstocks spouting about how they've been spiritually awakened. Tiresome. Not every sentence has to contain some pretentious faux literary reference, Alanis.
This totally smacks of Tori Amos' version of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" - BTDT.
