Janet Jackson was recently asked what the next single off her new album will be.
Miz Jackson answered with disappointing news:
That’s pretty difficult to say, only because of the record label at this point. We started off with Feedback and the label and myself haven’t quite seen eye to eye since the Feedback single so they’ve kind of basically stopped all promotion. I’m trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album so I don’t think you’re going to hear another single off this album.
What do y'all think?

Not fair. Janet's a moneymaker — has been for a long time. She should go indie.
She needs to stop making albums for like 4 or 5 years (because people are starting to become tired of Janet) and then make a big comeback like Mariah Carey did and many other fabulous singers did.

This isn't fair to janet at all, but the good thing is, she's going on tour, so there's no stopping the fierceness that IS Ms. Jackson. I thought 'Luv' was going to be the next single off of the album because it's got that summery love thing about it. WE still love you Janet and can't wait to see you on tour!

Makes total sense. Albums that sell less than 200K first week (especially with the amount of initial promotion) shouldn't have multiple subsequent singles. Video alone would be $500K and for what return?

Not fair. Her career is really in trouble right now and I don't know what's going on. I would tell them to release 2Nite as the next single, since it's the only song I really liked from the whole album. She seems really unhappy lately, like when she was on The View the other day. I hope things work out for her!

I've been wondering why 'Rock Wit You' hasn't been a major major power single. I think that song would be a great summer jam and the video is hot. Too bad for her b/c this album is actually good as opposed to her last outing. She deserves a bit better esp with so many songs to choose from in terms of singles.
p.s. to be honest the album is that good. I'm dissapointed with it. theres like 3 songs that could be singles and thats it. and they're like the first ones to play on the record. Then it just fizzles after '2nite'.
Discipline is a great album,but IMO her videos for Feedback and Rock with U were subpar. Not only that there were better songs on the album she could have released. I love Janet to death but i find she often puts out the wrong singles. I often find myself saying she should have released this song instead of that song.Either way i will always support her as i have for the last 20 years, can't wait for the tour!

a big part of the artists success is great marketing, they didnt from the begining give her the best promotion, the labels and promotion team sometimes need to stand back and let the artist take control of certain singles…besides they know what the fans want..
how lame? okay the first song did well, but dropped off the charts. how you can promote an album without support from your label. sounds like she should drop the label and get a new one. the album is decent and this is just wrong to do to any artist. only if its lindsay lohan would it be okay bc she sucks.ha
The music industry stiffles talent, even when they don't mean to.
There are not enough decision makers. There are only a handful of people deciding what you and I should hear.
Radio stinks. They don't help artists like they used to either. They play the same tired crap over and over.
The music that is promoted stinks, yet, because of saturation by the mass media, you closed minded people buy it up.
Radio up until the early eighties was full of variety, a little bit of everything, more music that was allowed to cross over formats.
Today the music industry and radio are homogenized and sanitized into a little sanitary napkin of in your face presentation. The music you have been heariing for the past 20 years has been and will be disposed of. It will not stand the test of time. Looks and fads are presented in place of real talent.
