Showtime has officially ordered 12 half hour episodes of stripper turned Juno Oscar-winner Diablo Cody's The United States of Tara .
Unfortunately, Tara Reid does not star in the show.
Fortunately, Aussie Toni Collette will star in the series as a wife and mother with dissociative identity disorder.
Sex and the City's Aidan, John Corbett, plays her husband.
The show will examine how a dysfunctional family copes with the various identities that might appear on any given day and range in age, temperament and even gender.
Toni Collette is an awesome actress. We can't wait to see what she'll do with her role!
The show's slated to premiere in early 2009.

My (psychologist) mom treated a patient with dissociative identity disorder - - which used to be known as multiple personality disorder.
There is NOTHING funny about this illness. Up to 90 percent of those affected with it have been sexually abused as a child.
I wrote a thesis on this patient and the stuff she was subjected to would make you want to believe it happened to someone else, too. It devastated her life and her family.
That sounds like it is gonna be a good show!

Diablo is a talented writer and seems like a cool chick- follow her on Twitter if you have your doubts— she's real, she's funny, and unlike a lot of folks in the limelight today— she has genuine talent. I wish her only the best, and am happy to hear that we get to have some worthwhile shit to watch on the tube. amen.

Toni Collette is fantastic!!!In About A Boy she played a suicidal mother and was brilliant, love her love her love her. She can do American accent as well as British, which will it be? I hated the "Aiden" character, tho…but the show sounds amazing…

I loved Juno, but Im annoyed by the constant reference to Diablo Cody as a stripper. She did it for a year in minnesota to write about it and later, apparently exploit it." Stripper turns screenwriting star!" we used to get feminism sociology students backstage at my old club, scribbling away on their observations about that job, but I would be just as annoyed if the first thing they wanted to write about themselves was "former stripper". I read in an interview last year, John Corbett said he would NEVER act again. He was burnt out; he HATED Hollywood and was DONE with all the b.s. of being on T.V…………..I'm glad that he will be back cause he's a great personality….but what happened to him that made him change his tune?? You are so right, joho. Be done with the stripper bit already! Diablo Cody is a very talented writer, and whenever I see her on shows like Letterman, she is intelligent, charming, clever and very witty … so much more than the "stripper" obsession the press seems unable to let go of.
Anyway, the TV show should be good … Toni Collette is fabulous too.
