My Fair Keira?

keirak1.jpg

Bad idea.

BAD!

Keira Knightley is in talks to play Eliza Doolittle in the re-make of stage to film classic My Fair Lady.

The studio, Columbia, declined to comment on casting of the project, being produced by Duncan Kenworthy (Love Actually, Notting Hill..fab flicks!) and theater legend Cameron Mackintosh.

According to reports, while it's being called an update, the film will use the original score and retain its 1912 setting.

Where possible, Kenworthy and Mackintosh intend to shoot the film on location in the original London settings of Covent Garden, Drury Lane, Tottenham Court Road, Wimpole Street and the Ascot racecourse.

Keira is no Audrey Hepburn!!!!!!!

We heart London and musicals.

They can't butcher My Fair Lady!!!!!!

Who would be a good Eliza???

Emmy Rossum???

seems like the industry hasn't got any new ideas. in the last time i always hear of re-makes. why on earth make a re-make, when the original was fantastic.
i love movies new and old, but also with Dr. Dolittle: the first was the best ever - it was more funny.
all the people should better think a little bit more an write new stories, than taking the old ones - that's going to be boring some day.

perez, you are an idiot. The true Eliza was JULIE ANDREWS. Audrey stole it from her for the movie version of the broadway hit and didn't even sing in it. She just lip synched. Get it right moron.

NO NO NO NO NO DO NOT REMAKE MY FAIR LADY AT ALL. IT DOESNT MATTER WHO PLAYS ELIZA, IT WILL SUCK. No one can measure up to Audrey Hepburn these days, and whoever it is will totally butcher the Cockney accent.

emmy rossum seems too polished an actress to be playing that role. (i don't think her take on the rough, poor-mannered eliza would be believable).

i'm thinking either keira or natalie portman. i love both of them.

      Re: Kel

idiot. we're talking about the film version. and audrey did sing. but they later recorded some girl's voice over hers for some of the songs. which, later, became such a big issue because audrey wasn't informed about it. for the record, they kept her version of 'enry 'iggins.

oh, and i heard her version of wouldn't it be loverly, and i think it was so much better than the one that ended up in the movie. the vocals weren't superb but it was definitely what people would think eliza's voice would be like.

      412

if they wanted someone who was as easy on the eyes as audrey hepburn, they should get someone like natalie portman or alexis bledel.

although i think bledel is too limited an actress.

      PORTMAN!

Actually perez Keira Knightley if anyone would be the most logical choice to re enact the role of Eliza Doolittle in the remake. Just because your idiotic hatred for the woman blinds you of this obvious choice doesn’t mean she isn’t. The only thing is that you and every other pompous jack ass elitist out there with your hater attitude doesn’t see that she was actually COMAPRED to a young Audreu Hepburn. She also proved that she can sing well enough to pull off roles which require her to sing.

You’re an idiot Perez. Just like your group of low life minions.

Why the FUCK does Hollywood have no more original ideas? Honest to God! Seriously, 99.5% of remakes are absolute shit and pale in comparison to the original. They don't need to remake this. If anyone should be Eliza, it should be Julie Andrews since she originated the role. GRACIOUS!

While I value pretty much all of Perez's comments, I have to say, his comment was a bit off. Being an extremely HUGE Audrey fan, I hold her roles sacred…meaning, NO ONE can replace her! But, in my opinion, with the the pool of women I have to chose from, Keira Knightly is the closest "Hepburn" (and I mean, skinny, boyish figure with well defined eyebrows) that could "emulate" the role.

Let us all remember, Julie Andrews was the one that was cast for the role, but Audrey was a bigger star at the time…her vocals were dubbed. Funny thing is…Julie Andrews won the oscar!

They already ruined My Fair Lady when they cast Audrey Hepburn and not Julie Andrews back in the 60s when the movie was released (although I do love Audrey Hepburn). The remake is a bad idea though.

ALEXIS BLEDEL! haha, she was always teased in Gilmore Girls because of her similar looks to Audrey Hepburn! …

and Keira Knightley is…NOT! not, not, not. definitely NOT a good idea, and My Fair Lady is sooo great…and..Keira cannot screw it for generations to come!

This is still in the realm of the press release. Cameron Macintosh's organization is also talking about Daniel Day Lewis being at the top of their list of actors to play Higgins, and adding that they'd love for Steven Spielberg to direct, but it's still all pie in the sky. Who believes this will ever really happen?

I hope it's not Keira. Can't understand her popularity. I recently saw a stage version of MFL and the Eliza, Lisa O'Hare, was phenomenal and I dare say as good if not better than Audrey. She should be in the new film.

      443

KEIRA ALL THE WAY!!!! She is an excellent actress and it would be great to see her do a cockney accent. I've only seen her play proper ladies so this would be a nice change. As far as the SINGING is concerned, if that was really her singing voice that i heard the other day, then she'll do a fine job. Plus SHE CAN GET SOME SINGING LESSONS!!! Emmy Rossum, I'm not familiar with her acting and I don't care for her.

    44. Nikki says – reply to this

      444

Why are they remaking it?! There is no problem with the original - it would be like remaking a marylin monroe movie or Bogart? Never gonna match up!
And is someone out there trying to ruin all of my favourite heroines by casting Keira Knightly as them all. She massacred Elizabeth Bennet and now giving her Eliza Doolite. Just because someone has a pretty face does not mean they can act!

    45. queeni says – reply to this

      445

Ummmm, how about casting actual talent instead of just pretty faces and american idols in musicals? I'm sure Sutton Foster would do an amazing job and would do it for alot less money. They could cast some bigger stars around her and it would make her a breakout star!

Hey guys it’s me. Perez Hilton. I just want to let people know the real reason on why I made this blog and this website in the first place. It’s because I’m a 30 year old obnoxious retard who tried to be famous by showing a bunch of videos of dogs and cats of the same sex doing it on a television show. Safe to say that my idea got rejected and I got thrown out on my ass by the TV executives, I decided that the best new way to make people love me or hate me is to rant on celebrities that I don’t know in real life. So I made up this tough guy internet persona like a fucking douche bag and now I am famous. But in real life I’m just the same sad little boy I was back when my mommy and daddy where beating the shit out of me because I was an utter failure to them.

So I want to thank all the fans who have supported. Me. And I mean that really. I mean I can’t believe that I have fans. No one in the right mind would support this dribble that I spew out like an attention seeking fat piece of shit (Ie Sarah, thank you for being a moron) or even support a ho hum talent like Emmy Rossum who fails as an actress and as a singer. Thank you guys.

I can't figure out a good reason for re-making this movie unless they plan on kicking some major ass, and if that's the case, I don't think Kiera Knightley is their best choice. As much as I wish I didnt' like her, I do. Her strange beauty is enticing. However…I don't think she is a good Eliza Doolittle. Maybe Nicole Kidman or Kristen Chenoweth…I dunno….

    54. Valeri says – reply to this

      454

KIERA IS DEF NO AUDREY! Emmy already played a young Audrey in the movie The Audrey Hepburn story, and proved in phantom of the opera she can sing, if i HAD to choose, i would pick Emmy, but I think they should leave MFL alone, its a classic, you CANT touch it. it will be NOTHING like the original. love kiera, but noone can play audrey.

Get your head out of your ass, Perez, and stop being so damn provincial. Emmy Rossum? Puhleeze. Keira Knightly is a perfect choice to play Eliza - she's slender, classically beautiful, and a wonderful actor. I for one am looking forward to the finished production. I am sure that this reworking of Pygmalion will be terrific.
