Sir Richard Branson doesn't give a fuck! He's sunning himself on his own island!
FUCKING FIRST!!!
Are there many Virgin Megastores closing around the world or something? Why?
but his wife isnt hot
so sad !
I used to work there. RIP
omg how sad i love that place
Virgin has really been hitting some hard times lately. Maybe they should switch their image up and change their name to "Whore" instead, since sluts like Paris Hilton are all the rage these days.
the times are a changing!
NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am gonna miss me some $10 dvds….
ffuuuucccckkkk……
NO FUCKING WAY
you must be kidding
i thought it was doing well
Maybe Hot Topic will open there, and your face will grace those giant billboards pimping your clothes line, Perez.
not really
What company can afford to take that lot up x] NY is so expensive soon everything will be shutting it's doors. The city of dreams is such a sell out.
I'm assuming this has a lot to do with the collapsing CD sales?
Yes, lets all say a prayer for the poor, poor Richard Branson, shall we?
Why?
NYC is done with music and video. It's over as we know it.
Sad.
WAS THIS STORE DEPENDENT ON FUEL…………LOL……WELL ANOTHER BATCH OF UNEMPLOYED PPL
Madonna was right, NYC is Over!
That's shitty…Sucks, i was majoring in Music Business but have since changed my major because the industry is becoming none existent…blah.
aww, that sad, that is such a great store
Wow! I've been to that store. Whatta shame.
They must be closing many more. The one we had here in Chicago's Magnificent Mile closed a couple months ago and is now a Forever 21 store.
who fucking cares?
overproces music and film dvd's, all wrapped in the culture of virgin?
good riddance.
it's a new era and virgin, like tower are relics of the past century.
who gives a fuck? that store was waayyy overpriced, like everything in nyc
WHAT!?!?!?!?!?!?!
What about the one in Union Square?
who gives a fuck? that store is waayyy overpriced, like everything in nyc
What is this, Debby Downer Day??? What's up with all the depressing news stories, Perez?? Way to kick off a Friday evening!
Nooooooooooooooo!!!!
perez, people don't buy cd's anymore. nobody wants to expend $20 on a fucking cd.

oh darn… that's my favorite store on the whole times square tourist-attraction circuit….
people need to quit downloading music on their computers and go out and buy an actual, physical cd…too bad we're all lazy
duh, it is stupid that it has been there this long. hello the world is changing. Tower records is ruined because it was run by dumb fucks who did not know things were changing. This has to happen!
***EDIT!***
"The huge Virgin Megastore in NYC's Times Square is soon-to-be closing its doors."
Should be "it's" with an apostrophe because you're denoting possession of it's doors.
*******************************************************
OOOO NOOOO.
I love going there, they always have the greatest tees.
This sucks and god knows what there gonna put there.
So sad, that store was iconic… i remember my first time in NY, the tour guide pointed it out and i couldn't wait to get off the bus, get there and buy it all!
Sad
Re: beanbe –
You stupid bitch. If you contract "it's", then you are saying "IT IS".
Its is the correct way.
Dumbass.
The Virgin Megastore in Union Square is rumored to have lost it's lease and will also disappear by the end of the year. There was a discussion about this on The Velvet Rope some months ago. End of an era. I will miss record stores big and small.
What planet are you people from? You act surprised by this, but who the hell buys CDs and DVDs anymore? Let alone at full price from a place like this? I'll guarantee that all of you have gotten music online and rented DVDs from Netflix more recently than you bought that shit in a store.
That's so sad. I got to go there in March when I visited NYC. I loved it. It was one of the highlights for me.
That's so fucked up!
Re: Frankl – hot topic is for emo losers who cant afford nice clothes that make you look normal
That fucking breaks my heart, they are the only store that has all the music… I'm so upset ;(
Fuck that sucks I loved that place. Well hopefully there will be awesome mark downs
That's truly saddening. That's one of the first thing out of towners see when they come off the bus or train. It's the center of Times Square. I'm worried for the world.
Whomever posts "first" as comments is a loser.
They closed the one in Chicago last year, I am still crying… Was the best store ever.
FUCK VIRGIN! They wanna take away net neutrality!
that really is a shame, that store was a bit of a classic
fuck! whyyyyyyyy!!! i lovvvvvvvvvvvved that place.
omg!!!! i went in there when i went to NYC last year
:(:( its like…. part of times square. RIP
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i never bought anything their but still that place is soooo important to Times Square
Not sad at all. There should be something more relevant at that location.
ARE YOU SERIOUS??? It's been there FOREVER!! This is SO SO wrong.
*gasp* NOOOOOOO!
Video killed the radio star and the internet killed the record store. ©
I am so upset, I love that store. When I visit NYC it's an absolute staple visit, i'm heartbroken!!!!
Why? Did people just kind of stop shopping there or what?
Are you serious! No! I love that place! The 14th street location, sucks compared to Virgin on 46th… that is so sad.
:(
What the shit??? That's just WRONG.
about as sad as horse buggy stores going out of business; embrace advances in technology and industry, and don't mourn the 8track.. i mean compact disks
I don't care, as long as Idina Menzel's album cover is still out there on closing day!
WHERE THE FUCK IS ALL THE BRITNEY NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
sooooooooooooo sad…..im dutch and have been to new york many times. lived there even. and maybe favourite spot was always Virgin Megastore. Roaming there, discovering different kinds of music and films. have a coffee in their cafe. enjoying great, special, moments there with my bf's. u saw cute, sexy people listening to music on the headphones and shaking their asses. it is a store so huge, glamorous, alive. im heartbroken, because it wasnt juste a store, it was a way of life…..i feel like crying now…
damn i remember going there when i was homeless to get some heartfelt inspiration at those listening stations. so many memories
Alot of Virgin stores here in the UK were closed down and revamped/taken over with the name "ZAVVI"
Im from England, and when i went to NYC in Feb i spent soooooo much time in that Virgin, its AMAZING! So sad its closing! But glad i got to go!

the virgin group company is diversified into many business sectors - conglumerate. and each sector has to report its financial figures at the end of the year. Due to decline in CD and DVDs sells recently, such stores reported many losses. virgin megastore itself is not the only one in hot water, other similar store have experienced decline in profits and they are looking at variety of ways to bring profits back to normal. However sir richard branson the virgin group owner have thought to sell this part of his businesses since it comporises only not more than 4% of overall profits consolidated group profit. its a smart move not to run a declining business!
