Virgin has really been hitting some hard times lately. Maybe they should switch their image up and change their name to "Whore" instead, since sluts like Paris Hilton are all the rage these days.

"The huge Virgin Megastore in NYC's Times Square is soon-to-be closing its doors."

Should be "it's" with an apostrophe because you're denoting possession of it's doors.

The Virgin Megastore in Union Square is rumored to have lost it's lease and will also disappear by the end of the year. There was a discussion about this on The Velvet Rope some months ago. End of an era. I will miss record stores big and small.

the virgin group company is diversified into many business sectors - conglumerate. and each sector has to report its financial figures at the end of the year. Due to decline in CD and DVDs sells recently, such stores reported many losses. virgin megastore itself is not the only one in hot water, other similar store have experienced decline in profits and they are looking at variety of ways to bring profits back to normal. However sir richard branson the virgin group owner have thought to sell this part of his businesses since it comporises only not more than 4% of overall profits consolidated group profit. its a smart move not to run a declining business!

I definitely saw this coming!!! There always is a $10 dollar cd & dvd sale in the Union Square location.
Stores are being closed everywhere in the neighborhood. NYU is taking over with their modern buildings. More drunk college kids running around and the new bars that cater to them is just what we need! Fantastic!

      96

No music video on MTV, no music videos on VH1 , and now it looks like BET. We now have Free or $1.00 downloads, You Tube, ,…my space is all free and don’t forget music piracy…. $20.00 for an album that only has 2 good track ….forget about it!. This generation doesn’t care about that nostalgic CD shit. I have one BIG Idea to the struggling record business bring the cd cost down to $4.95 you will see how much things will change. i tune will go out of business and the cd piracy will drop to zero. Only in my dreams lol

wow, some of you are so sick. Does anyone in this world today appreciate music? Buying all mp3 music is such a dumb thing to do. If you don't back up what you have on your computer…if your computer crashes ALL your music is gone even if you bought it…they sometimes can't get it back for you. What happened to appreciating a CD? I have vinyl records and CDs that i wouldn't trade for any MP3. THE INTERNET GENERATION IS SCREWED.
