Yes, he did leave his first wife, but he also did the right thing by her. He provided her with medical care, alimony, child support and homes to live in. I think that is what is important. Marriages break up all the time. I see nothing wrong since she was always taken care of.

With respect, people, unless you've been in a military relationship, you have no idea what you're talking about. Sometimes they come back different, and it's not always the guy's fault. When my SO returned from deployment, he was dealing with PTSD, and, even with counseling, we had some rough times. Both went through a hard time, both came out different, and they got divorced. Divorce rate in the military is over 75%. It happens.
Really, this is so stupid. It happened ages ago and has nothing to do with you or us or anything else. They both went through their own private versions of hell and you want to make it out to be something sordid instead of accepting that people change and fall out of love. Grow up a bit.
