I agree. Born in Toronto, lived in Montreal and Marseille France.. Moved back to Toronto, there are good things: The beach area, queen east queen west Little Italy, the danforth…But the suburbs give me a terrible rash.
Its just there is something about it that suks out your creativity as an artist..
He is not a dick he is honest.. Toronto can be superficial and money obsesed its hard to find the real, but it is there, many people are great… others are suked right in to the Toronto mold. Yorkville Yuk..

As a native New York I can tell this Canadian that New York is not New York anymore. I've never been to Toronto but my guess is that New York is morphing into that place. This is in large part due to the republican fuckers and corporate america who have been running NYC for the past 13 years, gentrifying it and turning it "generic" like every other fucking place in the US. Most of the buildings are so ugly and from the 60s, they should be bulldozed. Toronto people honestly believe thier city is great but they just havent travelled anywhere so they dont know any better. Yonge street is a ghost town after midnight, everyone stays inside. The guys in Toronto have no fashion sense at all (most girls here dress like crap too). Almost every white guy wears an oversized T shirt, some sort of chain, a baseball cap, and walks around like some 90s version of Vanilla Ice.

I ABSOLUTELY AGREE. I am from Toronto and have live there for 25 years, and I moved to the US last Oct.

I went back to Toronto for the first time last month and I HATED IT.
It's trying too hard to be a big city - you can't get around, too congested, people are so rude and pushy, there less and less of a skyline anymore because of fucking condos every where, it's a city on the lake/beach but can you do anything water reltated? NO - Because it's facking polluted. Why anyone would want to live where you have to pay 14% tax on everything and live in a second rate city is BEYOND ME.
Call me a traitor but Canadians have no clue what they are missing. Stop thinking T.O is the be all end all and get out of your bubble and into the world and see what REAL cities have to offer.

I totally agree, and I live in Toronto. The place is full of boring, sanctimonious pricks, constantly lecturing everyone about how wonderful the place is, how multicultural and accepting it is, etc. etc. If the weather was tolerable year round, the place would be OK, but the fact that winter descends on this hole for many months makes you want to kill yourself.

I kind of agree with him. I travelled to both cities in March this year. I started in Toronto and then went to Montreal and then back to Toronto. While I was impressed by Toronto when I got back to MOntreal I was like "Is this it?!".
Toronto seems like it is trying too hard to be something it is not. It has an air of superficiality. Granted it is multicultural to a large degree but it lacked any soul. You are impressed by the CN Tower and the buildings but you're left unsatisfied.
Montreal on the other hand has something special. The obvious first impression is the Francophone attitude. It is one of the only cities I know where it is truly bilingual, a bilinguality that is engrained in the fabric of the city. Architecturally it is more impressive, the people are more interesting and it is a LOT more fun to hang out in.
I have been lucky enough to travel around the world and Montreal is up there with Buenos Aires for New World beauty and Berlin for creativity and London for vibrancy.
Toronto is exactly what Rufus said, New York of the MId West (granted he maybe wrong geographically but the image is apt)

I've been to both and love Toronto…and ppl who are saying "everyone thinks they are …. in Toronto" is obviously living a very limited existance….
There are pros and cons to everywhere, smallest hamlet to the biggest city. If you dont like it..dont visit, dont come, stay where you are and enjoy it…there are ways to avoid it without offending people who could/would be fans.
