Stay Strong

In response to reports in the British media about Brit newsman Martin Bashir, ABC has just released the following statement, confirming sad news about his health:

An MRI scan recently discovered a small growth on Martin Bashir's pituitary gland. Bashir's doctors have advised that no immediate action be taken as they monitor the situation month to month.

Bashir is feeling well as he continues to keep a full schedule anchoring and reporting for ABC News.

Bashir made headlines with his candid interviews of Princess Diana and Michael Jackson.

However, the eerie thing is, the way Bashir found out about the tumor gives credence to that saying, sometimes things happen for a reason.

Docs discovered the brain tumor while treating Bashir for a minor head injury he suffered at ABC's studios.

We hope the treatment for the tumor is 100% successful.

It's bittersweet but thankfully that head injury alerted him of the more serious problem sooner than he would have otherwise!

My friend had a tumor on her pituitary gland. The pituitary gland is regulates a lot of different bodily functions. Weird stuff happened because of it; she doubled her weight, and started producing milk (not pregnant), but had it removed and was good for years. Then it grew back, and she had it removed again. (They operated through her nostril) She's fine, but wasn't able to drop all of the weight. He's lucky to find it early to avoid the weird stuff, but will probably be OK. Pancreatic cancer (Swayze) has a far worse prognosis.

Martin Bashir is a manipulative liar who is happy to destroy people's lives for his own career. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone - but I wouldn't shed a tear on the passing of this twat either. Doubt Michael Jackson will be shedding a tear either.

      38

As long as it isn't cancerous it shouldn't be that much of a problem at all. I know half a dozen people with pituitary tumors (I'm actually not exaggerating - both my mother and my ex had them, as well as a couple friends and people I worked with over the years).

My grandma has a tumor on her pituitary, and she's doing just fine. From what I understand with what she's had to go through is that it's very treatable and never malignant.

Good luck to him though, tumors, no matter what kind, are never fun!

    44. Zacula says – reply to this

      44

Big deal. I had an MRI in December 2005 and they discovered a tumor on my pituitary gland. Mine isn't that bad, and it hasn't affected anything ni my every day life. His tumor could stay the same size for the rest of his life, and since he hasn't had any ill-effects in life so far then he probably never will have a problem. You're making a big deal out of something extremely, extremely minor.

a tumor on a pituitary gland is BY NO MEANS A DEATH SENTENCE. not even close.
there are lots of highly effective treatment approaches. so give the guy a fucking break and stop being so fucking MORBID. it doesn't help him or us.

My dad had a benign tumor on his petuitary gland…in fact one in ten people have them and most never know. The biggest risk with these, is that it pushes on your petuitary gland and can cause any number of health problems…high blood pressure, acid reflux, you name it, and pressure on your petuitary gland can cause it. Also, nine out of ten are benign. It's a simple procedure, they'll go through his nose, break it up and pull it out. He'll only appear to have had a nose bleed. Good luck to him!

The name of this disease is acromegaly. I was diagnosed with this at the age of 25 I am now 38. Last year I had surgery to remove the tumor but the tumor was so close to one of my main nerves they could not remove it all. They are not cancerus 98% of the time, but they are a silent killer because they affect you body and your organs; causing your organs along with your extremities to over grow and over work. The sucessful medicine to treat this cost $7,200.00 a month. Which most people can not afford, even with Health insurance it is $800.00 a month.

Pituary gland tumors are benign….its very rare to have the malignant form….
Sometimes when the benign tumors start effecting the neurological areas they perform surgery. Otherwise….they just watch it. So, the guy has probably a bening form since the doctors are watching it. Read up Perez…
