They're All Messed Up!

Filed under: Old People > Legal Matters > Love Line

3027384.jpg

As we mentioned last month, Bill Murray and his wife, Jennifer Butler-Murray, are filing for divorce.

And it's gotten messy!

Jennifer accuses Bill of abusive behavior, drug and alcohol addiction, and frequent abandonment.

But, reports are surfacing that Jennifer is no saint. Apparently, SHE'S the one who's the alcoholic!

Jennifer's allegedly known around her Charleston, SC neighborhood as a frequent drinker and someone who gets "physical" with her children. Oh, and also gets the police called on her.

According to police reports from this past March, she was apparently so drunk that two of her kids ran over to a neighbor's house to ask for help.

It started when a witness saw her yelling loudly at one of her children and the cops where called in to go investigate.

The report from the officer states, "I spoke with [Jennifer] and advised her of the complaint. The w/f [white female] seemed to be very impaired and didn't want me on her property anymore, she slammed the door and I left the residence."

Later that night a neighbor called cops saying two of her children were at his home asking for help.

Scary.

WTF was she doing to them?

The report continues, "I then had the complainant meet me at the police station to talk with the juveniles. They informed me that their mother had been drinking heavily and had [become] physical with them."

Violence is NEVER the answer.

As for Bill, he was in California at the time, so the kids had to be sent to a family friend's house until he returned.

As for alcoholic Jennifer, her lawyer has of course declined to comment.

I babysat their kids once and have been over for family-friend parties. This is really sad. But Bill is one of the coolest guys I have ever met. Everything I heard about him, doesn't sound true. But Jen on the other hand.. yah I can see her acting like that.

If the accusations about Bill are true, (abusive behavior, drug and alcohol addiction, and frequent abandonment) and I was left parenting alone for months at a time, I might drink too, on occasion, and might yell at my kids. Marriage to an actor can be a special place in hell, but you are supposed to be grateful. Pssh.

Another smart thing you said recently about violence never being the answer. If you resort to verbal, mental, emotional, ot physical abuse, you could wind up with the likes of some people who post on this website and that's tragic. We need more good people in the world.

Who doesn't scream at their kids??????? If there is abuse, than let the authorities take care of it. Neither one of them owes the public an answer to anthing involving their family and private life. I'm sure the split is hard enough on the kiddies. Who the fuck is anyone not directly involved to say a god damn thing.

  37. Sad says – reply to this
    37

Honestly I feel is parents let their kids or teens visit this site, I think that's child abuse. You should try and protect your children as much as you can from stuff like this.

Actually, I know for a fact that Bill's wife is the alcoholic psycho…my brother was their next door neighbor at their San Diego area home (in a country club) until about a year ago. His wife used to go over there, get plastered, crawl around on the floor, and stumble back home. She was the talk of the entire community.

  39. Sad says – reply to this
    39

There's a difference between screaming once in awhile and abuse. But you still should try not to scream or fight in front of them. It's really someone that is emotionally immature. Fighting in front of them changes them forever.

Shit that's bad. I used to black out drink about four years ago when my daughter was 7. Everyonce in awhile she will tell me about the terrible things I would do. I don't remember it fully but I do have flashbacks and the guilt that I carry with me, even being 4 years sober now, will never go away.

just because violence isn't the answer to everything doesn't mean its not the answer to some things. none of us know what these kids are like, they might be the kind who are asking for it. or not. but we don't know.

I am sure being Married to Bill contributed to her excessive drinking… my goodness, having 4 children w/ the guy then him abusing her — makes a lot of sense why she was drunk.

  47. 47

I feel really bad for this family. I'm a huge Bill Murray fan. But, Perez, stop being so preachy! Sometimes, violence is the answer, particularly if you're defending yourself…

  48. Slap. says – reply to this
    48

It's better not to cast 'he said, she said' blame when kids are involved. These stories seem to be two parties positioning themselves for a court battle and perhaps custody, so the real truth will be eventually be unrecognizeable unless they mediate privately. Marriage can run its course. Bill Murray used to be outgoing, funny and happy. The Bill I've seen the last few years seems withdrawn and almost morose. I'd bet she was outgoing and happy in the past, too. The relationship is past its expiry date. It would be better on both of them if they didn't rip each other to shreds, out of respect for the past and for the children; you've got to know that the pres will eat it up.

Sounds like my ex husband and my kids. Good luck getting full custody of the children Bill!!!! Just wait until you're told to "make nice" with her for the kids sake. Well it's best to get the "kids" away from the nut before they get really hurt of killed! Best wishes to you Bill Murray you need it. Take care of those kids!

She looks like a bitch and this is coming from the mother of two teenagers with attitude. I take shit that means a lot to them away, don;t let them go somewhere that I know they really want to go as punishment but I would NEVER EVER suggest being physical with them…shame on you for doing so!!!

Arguing over what's abuse or how many other people have homes like this misses the point.
No kid should EVER have to leave his own parent/home to go find help from a neighbor. Period.
That's messed up shit and no kid deserves that.
I hope those kids get away from that crap for good or maybe at least find Al Anon. It can be a lifesaver for the non-alcoholics who have to go through this.

  59. Taylor says – reply to this
    59

That's really sad. My mother is an alcoholic and I recently was removed from her custody…which is really dumb due to the fact that she's always been an alcoholic but the state didn't choose to take me away until I was 17 and a half…totally a lot of sense in that! Anyways, alcoholism is a disease that usually the abuser doesn't think they have. They think they don't have a problem and just need help to "unwind" and also that they're superior to anyone who questions them. It's really sad because you can't talk any sense into them, you can't force help on them if they refuse it unless the court intervenes (which, if the court is intervening, is probably too late), and they are completely different than how they are sober. I love my mother but when she's drunk, I barely recognize her. Her features seem to change and she gets violent and inconsiderate. I hope those kids get help because alcoholism, more times than not, gets overlooked because the abuser is usually primarily at home when they're drinking. It's just really sad. She needs to get help before it's too late

    xx
