Jessica "Don't Call Me Latina" Alba'ss daddy, Mark, chatted with Latina magazine about the birth of little Dulce Santa Maria de Arrepentida Honor Marie Warren.
According to the mag Grandad Alba said, "I was really choked up. I never thought that I would cry so much. The fact that this little girl came out of my daughter's stomach, it blows my mind." He also added that he wasn't nearly as emotional when Jessica's brother Josh Alba's first child was born. "Somehow, this was different," he said.
Is it different cause Jessica gets more press than Josh?

I really don't think Jessica's father favors her over her brother. I think he's just more emotional about his little girl giving birth. Her brother didn't have to carry around a little one for 40 weeks and go through the pains of labor and give life to a newborn. My dad was the same way towards me.

Hate to say is because I really dislike the girl, but the way her father feels is 100% normal. He's not favoring her, but it's his little girl having a baby! A son, you want to set him up to take over the world, he a strong man(whether most men admit that or not)..a daughter you want to hold close and protect no matter how old they are. So, seeing your baby girl become a mother is certainly going to be a more moving experience.

Her brother's child (the first grandchild) obviously was birthed from his daughter-in-law and so it didn't have the same impact as watching the daughter that you watched be birthed, give birth to her own child.

Yes, I've heard grandparents can be like that - they feel different about grandkids born from their daughters, as opposed to their sons - I guess there's always an element of "is it really by grandkid?" - maybe their son's partner fooled around and got pregnant by someone else. To see your own daughter give birth is an emotional picture. He didn't say the child was more important than the other is was just a different experience than when his son's wife gave birth.

Obviously, this feeling was not felt by seeing the child of his son, who did not carry it. Also, it doesn't seem as if he is necessarily favoring one or the other. Fathers may be more inclined to an emotional response with their daughters than their sons, anyways.

I am sure most people who have a son and daughter, will agree that if your baby girl gives birth it will be more emotional then if your sons wife does. I just had a baby girl and my mom was so nervous, yet when my brother had his baby girl my mom was thrilled and as much as she loves my sister in law she worried more about me her daughter.

I understand what he means. Josh didn't have to carry a baby for 9 months and then give birth. It's different when your baby girl goes through all of that. My dad reacted that way when my sister and I both had our babies, but didn't when my half-sister (his step-daughter) had her children.
