According to the mag Grandad Alba said, "I was really choked up. I never thought that I would cry so much. The fact that this little girl came out of my daughter's stomach, it blows my mind." He also added that he wasn't nearly as emotional when Jessica's brother Josh Alba's first child was born. "Somehow, this was different," he said.

I think what he means is that it is different because she as his daughter becoming a mother was the one giving birth, and therefore it was more emotional for him than when his son became a father. I think it often is more emotional or intimate for the mothers parents, not always though.

I think what her father might have meant to say was that it was much more emotional to she your child go through labor and have a child come out of them. I think it is different for a father when his daughter has a baby. It was the same for my dad. It's not that he has a favorite or he loves my brother's child any less than mine, but it's different when your daughter is the one who is actually giving birth. It's very emotional. I think a bit more so than when your son's wife is having the baby.
