Good news for all of you Smurfs fans. That includes us!
Yes, that's Perez up there, celebrating his 6th birthday at a Smurfs-themed party. It was the bomb!
The Smurfs are heading to the big screen!!!
Columbia Pictures is going to create an animated AND live-action Smurfs movie.
David Weiss and David Stem, who wrote for the last two Shrek movies, are in negotiations to write the screenplay for The Smurfs.
The Smurfs was originally called Les Schtroumpfs in French and it was created for a Belgian series of comic books.
When it came to the US, the TV show ran on NBC's Saturday morning lineup from 1981-1990. It also branched off into creating small figurines, games, theme parks, and toys.
And not to mention the live show, which we saw - more than once!
Columbia co-president, Doug Belgrad, says "The Smurfs are one of the best-known franchises, and among the most beloved collection of characters in the world. We're very excited to introduce a new generation to Papa Smurf, Smurfette and the other smurftastic Smurfs in all of their 'three-apple-tall' glory."
Can't wait for this!!!!

This year is actually the 50th anniversary of the Smurfs. There are celebrations being held all over Belgium. My boyfriend and I are going to check out the exhibit at the Comic museum in Brussels when we go to Europe in August. I'm so excited! I was sooo into the Smurfs when I was little. I had a stuffed Smurfette I slept with, the entire Smurf village, countless little figurines and I even dressed as Smurfette for two Halloweens in a row.
