We'll Take It!

onasis.jpg

Shipping heiress Athina Onassis (de Miranda) has decided to sell more than 40 expen$ive pieces of jewelry owned by her late mother, Christina, who died when she was three.

Jacqueline Kennedy was married to Athina's gramps, Greek gazillionaire Aristotle.

The jewellery collection has an estimated value of $16 million and is being auctioned on Wednesday.

It is on public show at Christie’s in London today, Tuesday.

The sale is prompted not by a lack of money. Athina inherited a fortune estimated at $2 billion.

Apparently, Athina doesn't think the jewels fit her lifestyle. Girl is a profesh equestrian based in Brazil.

What???? Why not????

Add some bling to your riding hat, biyatch!

Experts argue that the sale is bound to attract further criticism that she has no respect for her family’s past.

Some things available for purchase by rich people include a pear-shaped 38-carat diamond estimated at up to $4.4 million and a ruby and diamond necklace by Van Cleef and Arpels, expected to make up to $80,000.

Why didn't she just give the stuff to a museum?????

Hello- I work at the HOT TOPIC where this piece of shit appearted on friday ( I was not working that day but showed up for shit n giggles ) ONLY 7 people showed up.SEVEN.That's it.Mario was BEYOND upset texting and DEMENDING the right water, food,ETC he was a rude royal pain in the ass and BEYOND crass.Talking about scat porn, fisting some kid and otherbest left unsaid topics. My manager was trying to get people to come in to meet Perez by handing out $5 gift cards NO ONE WANTED TO MEET HIM! His mother and sister were there and he seemed to take it out on them (they are both fat BTW and smelled nasty!) anyways he left around 8:45PM without saying goodbye to anyone & looked like he had been crying like the little bitch he is.

We sold a grand total of $6.45 of Perez Hilton items between 6PM - 9PM.

My manager has already talked about discounting his "line" !

What a spoiled brat! She should at least pass on the jewels to her own child. That way at least her mother's legacy can be passed on, like a family heir-loom.

  15. Kate says – reply to this

    15

That does seem a bit disturbing. I know she didn't know her mom, but being as rich as she is, definitely could have made a better decision. Donating the pieces to charities that her mom liked would have been nice. Or the museum idea is good. But then again, it is her decision.

    Perez,

You're losing momentum to keep your fan base up. Once an avid reader, now I only periodically check. TMZ.com is getting information up more frequently and presented better. PLUS, you don't care about your fans, otherwise you would check the comments section on your posts considering you are consistently online.

    17

Athena is very charitable and generous. She's not into jewelry and will likely donate the proceeds - QUIETLY. She hates the limelight and publicity. I think it is awesome. Her mother took her own life when Athena was 3. Go figure she wouldn't want to keep some of her jewelry. She was left motherless and scared and raised by a father largely regarded as a money-digging manwhore, who left Athena's mom for another woman and moved to another country (and therefore raised Athena in a foreign country, Switzerland - NOT Greece). Her family is marked by tragedy (uncle died in a plane crash, causing grandfather Aristotle to decend into deep depression, mother was manic depressive and committed suicide) and warring (Aristotle hated Athena's father; Christina LOATHED Jackie, and vice-versa…). Go figure she escape to South America and spends more time with horses than people …

Good for her, her mother was a party girl that basically overindulged, and drank and ate herslef to death ending up at a weight of over 300lbs. If Christina wants to get rid of her stuff who cares, leave the girl alone.

  21. Chris says – reply to this

    21

She's entitled to do with those trinkets whatever she likes. I had tons of baubles my Mother left me with and they were gawd awful ugly (remember those dinner rings from the 70's!….you could put a person's eye out with one of them!) and I ended up selling them through an Estate broker. Besides what museums would put this up for show? Honestly Perez….sometimes you are so silly.

    Re: TRUTH
That may indeed be the truth. Perez is definitely more of a cyber star. However, think about what he has done for a second. He has taken a blog and made it an International (yes global) site. He has more traffic than any other celebrity blog and has made himself well known in media circles. He has helped launch numerous musicians, lent his name to worthy and social events and has driven enough people like you to hate him because he was able to do it and you weren't. The fact that he was able to get a clothing line in his name, is a HUGE accomplishment. You try it. You can hate on him all you want. You can make fun of him and give him shit. I don't have any great love for some of the things he says. But I respect the genius that he is - the marketing guru that made himself a brand and drove his popularity with viral marketing like no other. When you get a break from your minimum wage job at The Hot Topic, why don't you put your dreams down on paper and then have the guts to make them happen. He did and he deserves your respect because of it.

  26. Dr. P says – reply to this

    26

Sorry, but an $80grand necklace is a trinket in this family, not an heirloom. The diamond could have been a gift to her mother or a purchase with bad feelings attached, ones that Athena doesn't want a reminder of (a guilt gift when she found her husband cheating?!). And, she may very well be giving the money to charity, as she is well known to do without ever announcing. I can't believe how people twist things. Surely, important heirlooms are being well-kept in a safe, but why should she keep EVERYTHING that she'll never wear and never need the money for?? Having an auction will earn more money for her to donate than donating the pieces and having her name exploited by the person who will turn around and sell them???

  27. Yup. says – reply to this

    27

The jewelry is NOT her mother. I'd bet she's kept quite a few pieces; but she has her memories always, plus probably some non-jeweled keepsakes. Jewelry from her Mom's time period is quite heavy and ornate. I imagine she owns a lot of 'stuff', and cleaning house and divesting like Elton John did makes a person feel much lighter and less weighed down by 'things.'

Re: Paolo – Well thanks for that personal history Paolo–that does give insight as to the "why".
Just because you are royal, or rich, or royally rich doesnt mean that you need 100 million jewels.

I know a little bit about Athena (clearly not as much you do though!) and I would have to agree that she will quietly donate the money.

  30. swf says – reply to this

Why should she have to donate it to a museum? It's hers. She can do whatever she wants with it.

    31

Perez….please learn basic grammar. The way you worded this sentence implies Athina's mother died when she (mother) was three!! Dumbass!!!

"Shipping heiress Athina Onassis (de Miranda) has decided to sell more than 40 expen$ive pieces of jewelry owned by her late mother, Christina, who died when she was three."

Try this "Shippping heiress Athina Onassis (de Miranda) has decided to sell more than 40 expen$ive peices of jewelry owned by her late mother Christina. Athina was only three when her mother died."

  32. LeeLe says – reply to this

    32

While it's hers and she may do with it as she pleases, the pieces should have been kept in the family. If you don't need the money, why sell your heritage?

  33. NotDu says – reply to this

    33

Christina Onassis was a drunk, pill popping slut with mental probs. Just because her father had money does not make her museum worthy. Aristotle O boinked and married Jackie Kennedy. Big whoop. That does not make Christina's jewelry museum worthy. Maybe Athina is selling it to thumb her nose at her "family history" because her trustees caused a stink about her taking over the foundation when she reached 21 because they felt her connection to Greece was "tenuous". WTF?? Her father was French and when her mom died, she was raised with her father as she should have been. And because of that, she is not "Greek" enough?? Fuck those asshats. It's her mom's jewels, she never really knew her mom, was born 10 years after her famous grandpa had died, and her only connections to her family's legacy are a posse of greedy asshats trying to control her money. She has a right to sell them. Maybe it will be theraputic for her. Good for her. Live your life, honey./

  37. jacqu says – reply to this

    37

why the HELL should she give jewelry to a museum? It's not the HOPE diamond. She inherited this, and it is HERS to do with as she pleases. If she SELLS it, it goes back INTO the economy. It gets resold. Then she goes and spends it on something else. COMMERCE, Perez. This young woman came from a MESS of a mother, and she has turned out just fine thanks to her father and stepmother. There are millions of very rich people on this planet and they employ people, buy stuff, provide benefits and give to charity. I'd rather be rich than poor, i can tell you that. Knock the chip off your shoulder.

  38. NotDU says – reply to this

    38

How many of you complaining asshats on here would donate anything to charity or a museum???? The VAST majority don't donate anything now, not even a dollar, and you expect us to believe you'd donate anything if you had money??? Please. Money doesn't make you more generous. These uneducated asshat readers spouting off their pimpslut mouths make me laugh. Why don't you people go to school, pick up a book, educate yourselves and qui spouting your stupidity? Do you even know the history here?

  42. Jon says – reply to this

    42

Well I think its so wrong to sell your mothers jewels especially since she died when the girl was three… Maybe she is giving the money to charity, if she does that than I don't see whats wrong with selling her family heirlooms

Re: LeeLe – Because her heritage causes her nothing but pain? Because she never knew her mom, who overate, popped pills, drank excessively and killed herself when Athina was just a tot? Because her family's trustee's try to block her from controlling the money and foundation that is rightfully hers? Because money ruined her family, made them unhappy and she doesn't want the same????

  44. NotDu says – reply to this

    44

Re: cavegirl – She has not ever been greedy, you ignorant asshat. You obviously know nothing about any of this. You just see she has gobs of money and insult her. She has given millions to charities, but she does so quietly as she does not want publicity. She wants a quiet normal life without the unhappiness that befell her family. Your comments are rude, uneducated, and show what kid of person you are. The smeller is the feller.

Re: Jack – If you read up on this, you will see doctors for years had been warning Christina about her overeating, pill popping, drug use and drinking. She was told she was in effect, killing herself. She refused to stop. She was an unhappy woman. Docs who treated her said she didn't shoot herself, but she purposely did things knowing it was killing her. She wanted to die. The family physician said her death technically was a suicide.

  51. Rache says – reply to this

    51

Obviously most of you are a bunch of uneducated idiots. Auctioning off a few items from her MASSIVE collection will hurt no one. She will most likely donate the money. No doubt when a person as young as she is has BILLIONS, it's not about the money. Most of you don't even know this girl or thos family… why so much hate? Jealous much? I'm sure she has pieces that are worth more than some countries in Africa… no need to keep all of it. To me, she's doing something that takes MORE balls than just letting it sit around in her multibillion dollar home in a safe.

Are they still considered the richest family in the world. I would have fucked Ari for that money.

  52. Rache says – reply to this

    52

Why are most of you assuming the negative? You have no clue in hell what she does with her money… shit, most of you have probaby not even heard of her (I'm sure most of you rely on P. Hilton for your political information as well. LMAO) Give her a break. Take a deep breath and really think hard about why you hate her so much. C'mon. I think you can do it. Yup. There ya go. It's jealousy. The Onasis family donates more than what you will make in a lifetime…

  53. R says – reply to this

    53

There is no one in that family that was married less than 3 times or who didn't indulge in drugs. Perhaps she's happy separating herself from her "family". Besides… everyone was dead before she was born and her mom died when she was three. Dad cheated on mom also.

It's just stuff. It's not the frikin crown jewels we're talking about here. Mommy liked diamonds, daughter likes the open air. Let her spend her wealth on what she feels will bring her happiness. And somehow all that time spend mucking horse stalls and riding about in the pampas is probably a lot healthier for her soul than some rocks dug out of the ground by slave laborers.

Sentimentality only goes so far. Keep the real things of value–a child's pictures or 1 or 2 keepsakes- the rest is crap.

None of the crap she is selling is musem quality-its like me selling my Mom's old silverware. Valuable, but not historic. I think its amazing Athina turned out even half way sane.

She was raised in Switz…..with her brothers and sisters (half if you must..and how hard must that have been for them?) She married young and I hope is happy. That is really all that needs to be said. There is no reason to follow this woman and her life, and that I believe is how she perfers.

". . .no respect for her family's past.. . ." ?????? That's hilarious. Can I ask you what past you are referring to? Aristotle Onassis made his fortune by making shady deals to exploit loopholes in shipping contracts. He was investigated by the FBI for fraud against the American government! He was obviously a shrewd businessman, but I wouldn't say the wealth he created for his family was respectable.

"Experts argue that the sale is bound to attract further criticism that she has no respect for her family’s past."
    ________________________________________________________________
FIRST OF ALL WHO ARE THESE "EXPERTS" AND WHAT EXACTLY IS THEIR "EXPERTISE" IN? (lmfao!)

SECOND, WHY WOULD SHE RESPECT HER MOTHERS FUCKED UP, TRAIN WRECK PAST? ALL ATHINA KNOWS IS HER MOTHERS POOR CHOICES LEFT HER ALONE TO BE RAISED BY STANGERS LIKE HER FATHER AND STEP MOTHER.
